falk··on Show HN: HireMyFriend – Get your friends to help you find a new job
The biggest problem I have with this is that it attaches you to your friend's profile and whatever he does online. So, for example, what if a buddy of mine posts that he just smoked a joint, and then he endorses me for a job. Unfortunately most employers will likely draw certain conclusions from that, "He hangs out with those kinds of people? I'm not hiring him." It could be much subtler, like your friend posts "I love Bob Marley."
falk··on Mission Creep: When Everything Is Terrorism
Dick Cheney was chairman and CEO of Halliburton Company for five years. They made billions of dollars off of the Iraq war alone. A war that we started under fall pretenses. The public was lied to by the Bush administration in order to line the pocket books of major multi-national corporations. You are absolutely delusional if you don't think that corporations sway the government into starting wars.

You should watch the documentary Hubris : Selling the Iraq War. It's on YouTube for free.

falk··on Instagram Designer Tim Van Damme Is Leaving Facebook For Dropbox
"(I admit I'm pretty biased against Dropbox because they both lied blatantly and horribly about security for a long time, and then, when caught, did a minimal job of just handwaving and continuing as before. They make file security markedly worse for users than it was before Dropbox.)"

Don't forget they were implicated as "coming soon" in the whole PRISM/NSA saga. No thanks.

falk··on Yahoo wins motion to declassify court documents in PRISM case
Bingo. We've been misled and lied to by every company implicated. We have no reason to trust them. At least Yahoo! is fighting back. Now if only they would remove that damn exclamation mark from their name.
falk··on Why We Can No Longer Trust Microsoft
I don't think that would effect his chances. All of our latest presidents have admitted or have been proven to do illegal drugs of some sort. Not to mention that the U.S. government has done some crazy things with drugs, especially LSD.

falk··on Greenwald: Snowden docs contain NSA 'blueprint'
Snowden hand selected thousands of documents. I'm sure this blueprint isn't a single piece of paper.
falk··on Why We Can No Longer Trust Microsoft
You're accidentally mixing PRISM with the most recent leaks that say Microsoft has given the NSA ways to bypass encryption methods and so forth.

Steve Jobs went through a background check for a top-level security check in the 80s. I wonder if he ever received it?

I find it hard to believe that the NSA didn't see one of the most valuable and popular companies in the world as a priority until 2012. I bet they were salivating as soon as the first iPhone launched.

falk··on DropBox doesn't offer full privacy or encryption
I'm not saying this is the reason why, but Dropbox was implicated in the whole Prism scandal as "coming soon".
falk··on The NSA slide you haven’t seen
On the contrary, we've caught a lot of people in a lot of lies. It's worth noting that the Guardian published this slide weeks ago, except they redacted some information. We most likely wouldn't still be talking about this if the Washington Post and Guardian played all their cards at once.
falk··on The Pirate Bay founder is raising money for spy-proof messaging app
Wow. This looks great.
falk··on Discovering Sketch
Sometimes things don't vertically center properly when I use the "Align Vertically" button. I haven't seen anyone else complain about this, so am I doing something wrong?

Here's an example: http://imgur.com/kgbMwJ2

Ninja edit: After looking at the screenshot I posted above again, it looks like the entire textbox is being vertically centered (the blue outline is centered), but not the text inside of it. Why does it a function this way and can I change it so that it vertically centers the text? Thanks.

falk··on Discovering Sketch
I hope not. Sketch should stay lean and be easy to make plugins for. Also, typically auto generated HTML sucks.
falk··on [dead]
I'm not a lawyer, but isn't that like blackmail or something? Talk to a lawyer, man.
falk··on Discovering Sketch
I love Sketch, but I don't like Fireworks. I find Fireworks awkward and clunky.
falk··on Cameras Catch Mystery Break-In at Whistleblower’s Law Firm
The government broke into Daniel Ellsberg's psychiatrist's office so that they could steal his patient files and use them to discredit him. Fortunately they couldn't find the files.
