faddypaddy34··on U.S. public health agencies aren't ‘following the science,’ officials say
Which is why you don't ban people from platforms and demonize them when they present alternate ideas. Especially when those people up until the "pandemic" were considered experts in their fields and have equal or greater training then the "experts" on TV who have never actually seen patients and worked in the government for 40 years.
faddypaddy34··on Google's AI doesn't understand restaurant menus
The biggest problem with Google and restaurant menus IMHO is the fact that the actual restaurant website (if the have one) is often several links below or often off screen to a bunch of review sites and other sites like Google maps with unreliable information.
faddypaddy34··on Former U.S. congressman, operative pleads guilty to election fraud charges
Voter id laws have been shown to increase voter turn out in the United States. Most states give free IDs for voting. It is a federal law that you must show an ID to register. Stop with this misinformed nonsense that there is a crazy conspiracy to keep "brown" people from voting. Maybe once yes but not for awhile.
faddypaddy34··on Letter in Support of Responsible Fintech Policy
I see a lot that crypto has it's uses. Please explain like I am 5 what some of the best ones are.
faddypaddy34··on Teen mental health is plummeting and social media is a major contributing cause [pdf]
I think you are taking what he is saying out of context and being very dishonest about it. He is not talking about diversity meaning he doesn't want different races or sexualities involved in the country. He is talking about the extreme fracturing of groups that is driven by social media.

I see this in my everyday life. Browsing any forum, almost every view expressed by any person is polarized to some side. However, being older and having enough people not connected to social media in my circle, I notice no one expresses the same polarization of thought that is so prevalent in social media and online communities. I also notice that the few people I interact with who do spend a large amount of time on social media are extremely polarized and mostly miserable.

faddypaddy34··on HackerRank (YC S11) DMCA'ed the SymPy Docs [fixed]
No you aren't. You are only sorry this made it to the front page of HN. Revoke the contract and stop with DMCA takedowns. Unless your company has invented brand new ways of solving common algorithms everything you are doing is most likely derivative work anyway.
faddypaddy34··on Job hunting while day-jobbing (2021)
This is my experience also. The only time I had a 100 -> 10 -> 1 type experience was looking for my first job leaving the military. That mostly due to me over applying for jobs.
faddypaddy34··on Inside the longest Atlassian outage
It's almost as if entrusting business critical data to offsite cloud providers isn't the best solution.
faddypaddy34··on FAANG promo committees are killing Kubernetes: A Short Thread
I mean you should really be demoted for continuing to push the k8s microservices crap.
faddypaddy34··on Amazon worker chat app to ban words such as “union”, “pay raise”, “slave labor”
It sounds reasonable and that is why it's dangerous to censor and everyone should fight against any censorship. If the guy working next to you is the type to send you slurs via messenger on company time wouldn't you want to know that so you could take the messages to management and have them removed? Or you would you want him to have a new imagined grievance on top of his already hateful viewpoint?
faddypaddy34··on Building a no-code toxicity classifier by talking to GitHub Copilot
I think the point is if you cannot/do not know how to code you cannot confirm what co-pilot is doing. Especially when it comes to complex topics like drawing context from natural online language using machine learning.
faddypaddy34··on Happy New Year HN! What are your plans for the new year?
I second this. The AA program is also about way more then not drinking and if followed is life changing.
faddypaddy34··on The reputation economy is turning us into conformists (2017) [video]
While not that widespread yet it is there in some context. For instance regularly miss out on news and updates from.various organizations I was once very active in because they have almost completely migrated to Facebook. A lot of extracurricular activities as well as schools require some sort of social media be it Google, or Facebook to stay plugged into events and check one students progress.
faddypaddy34··on RFC 8959: The “secret-token” URI Scheme
The very real problem is anyone who checks a secret into source should be held responsible for any data loss including fines and jail time. Poor security practices are that are obvious avoidable are inexcusable.
faddypaddy34··on Learn 3D Computer Graphics Programming from Scratch
Or you could pay $15 dollars for Handmade Hero and get 600+ of videos explaining the coding process with full source code.
faddypaddy34··on Biden wins White House, vowing new direction for divided U.S.
These things you say aren't even true. He's condemned white supremacists at least 27 times. Listen to the entire speech post Charlottesville speech. You are an example of the problem you just believe what you hear with out checking out facts. Trump has a lot of faults. Stop making stuff up. Also you might want to look at the "white" supremacists proud boy membership roles you might be surprised at how diverse it is.
