also I'd like to learn how a Robotaxi service would work and whether any insurance company would be willing to underwrite it.

This country is slowly moving into the digital age but still there is a strong cultural attachment to traditions and "if it isn't broken don't fix it" mentality.
f430··on The new browser-based puppeteer REPL, and how we built it
Thanks for your answer! do you do anything to lower the latency between the user and the client?
f430··on The new browser-based puppeteer REPL, and how we built it
can you explain how this is architected? you are running a browser on a server and its streaming the video to the canvas? where does the cloudflare bit come in?

very interesting project!

f430··on Hackers break into thousands of security cameras, exposing Tesla, jail, hospital
> Last year, the sales director accessed these cameras to take photos of female workers, then posted them in a Slack channel called #RawVerkadawgz alongside sexually explicit jokes. The incident was first reported by IPVM and independently verified by Vice.

damn that is despicable but this sort of brogrammer behavior appears rampant. How would you address this as a manager? This is absolutely not okay.

f430··on Show HN: Svelte NodeGUI, a lightweight Electron alternative with native UI
Isn't it rendering html5/javascript like a browser would? it would be great if somebody could take time to reply and explain things in a calm logical manner without reaching for downvotes
f430··on Coursera S-1 IPO
Right here comes the ad hominem attacks. Year 2000 called, P/E ratio is at dangerous levels. Not to mention frauds, crypto and somehow rolling a truck down a hill creates billion dollar companies over night meanwhile there is a liquidity crisis brewing in the bond market
f430··on Coursera S-1 IPO
yet bond yields go up a small basis point and nasdaq wipes out gains from this year. The current loss leadership model works because of cheap capital. That's it. There's nothing genius about it. SaaS stocks are heavily inflated and were hit particularly hard with the recent correction. Double points if they bought bitcoins.

> tell me. please why a company that loses 40 cents for every dollar they spend should have double digit multiples. you have 1 hour to reply with a fully cited explanation justifying this level of exuberance in a low yield credit bubble driving up valuations while overall the industry has seen a net reduction in profitability.

so I dissed a YC company going public and it gets flagged. The censorship here is ridiculous and this place has turned into a creepy brogrammer pump & dump.

> trusted service via https

you think that would stop a zero day vulnerability? if you have browser that won't be updated for a long time and its connected to the internet, it is a huge attack surface.

Unless you were running local static file without ever talking to the internet.

f430··on Coursera S-1 IPO
Price to earnings ratio is at an all time high, once the credit bubble bursts, so will the investors appetite for such companies.
f430··on Show HN: Svelte NodeGUI, a lightweight Electron alternative with native UI
How do you deal with zero day vulnerabilities? To me the biggest concern using browser-as-a-desktop solution is that there will be quite a lag between when Chrome patches zero days vs when it gets released.

ex) nw.js, electron.

f430··on Flutter 2
Flutter is way more closer to native than react will ever be
f430··on Flutter 2
What are you talking about Flutter runs butter smooth on most smartphones at 60fps, far better than what react-native and other half assed solutions on the market.

go ahead and take time to downvote my comments. do you boo

f430··on Flutter 2
I just wanted to commend you guys on Flutter. I've put off Android/React Native for almost a decade because of how clunky it was and I feel like Flutter finally gets the pieces right.

It is refreshing to be able to start development quickly without worrying about tooling (react-native), CI, etc.

Also I feel like Dart is perfect. It's a joy to use, I feel like this is the future. It's not es6 and it's not Java either.

The fact that they raised money through ICO and issued coins on a dubious blockchain just compounds to the suspicion.
