exprA··on Should I Comment My Code? The Case Against Code Comments
I don't see any of the functions returning any lists. They do produce some output, though.

That's only partially related to topic at hand. Even in cases where copy elision takes place, and object is still constructed.

However, as was said before, any performant iterators ought to be header-only implementations, and if they have no side effects, I don't see why a compiler might not do away with the copy altogether.

Personally I always use the prefix increment (unless the other behaviour is needed).

What year are you living in? There's certainly some self-censorship in Finnish media, but it's mostly related to PC-issues (e.g. disproportionate amount of of crimes committed by foreigners, and especially some humanitarian immigrants), but that's mostly a political statement by the reporters and certainly not a government policy (and thus does not extend to all of media).

How did they manage it in the 30s (or whenever depending on your nationality)? Are you absolutely certain that criminalization wasn't an overreaction to a problem that after all wasn't all that big?

C arrays “know” their size. (String literals do too.)

That's not the commute in Helsinki, it's just yours.

I, too, have one – with a car I drive about 15 minutes along the innermost “ring” road whereas any combination of public transport would require at least an hour for the worst case scenario. Yes, the trip takes longer in peak traffic; luckily I can avoid those times most of the time – and it's in any case way faster than with public transport.

It was comparatively worse when I had a much shorter commute to school years ago. The 3.5 km trip would consist of more than a kilometre of walking and would at worst take way more than half an hour with buses (including the switch, without one you'd have to walk more than half the distance). Needless to say, I did not prepare for the bad days, and was late quite often.

With a car, it was literally a five minute ride.
