evercast··on Not so great experience interviewing at Twitter
After interviewing at multiple FAANGs, I would advise against generalising company culture based on single interview incidents. Sure, it is not nice but well...it happens. They are interviewing hundreds of people, employing thousands of engineers, and these engineers are also training themselves in the context of interview skills. Assuming the Google interviewer was honest in his feedback (i.e. noted down wrong indentation as a minus), I would bet this is caught somewhere in the hiring review process, eventually pointed out and corrected on Google side. The downside is, sadly, that you get rejected, but ultimately these companies can afford rejecting good candidates.

It may be worth noting that we do not really know what do they mean by "logs". These can be either database records or simply text logs generated by a web server sitting in front of the OCSP backend and logging the requests, regardless of what those requests are referring to. In other words, it does not have to be a conscious decision to "harvest IP addresses" but could easily be a side-effect of what the infrastructure does.

Still, it is no excuse for them as one would expect clear and thorough security/privacy audits before rolling out such features. Especially from companies like Apple.

Is it really the case though? I am also from Poland (though I do not live there anymore) and based on my experience it was rather a popular dev machine a couple of years back, easily seen at conferences. It is of course less popular due to pricing but definitely not absent.

Can you maybe also comment further on the compatibility issues? Mac is perfectly fine for any general-purpose frontend/backend development. Unless you work in a Windows-centric environment or in a setting that clearly rules out a Mac (e.g. Linux system programming), I cannot really imagine what compatibility issue would prevent you from using a Mac e.g. for Typescript, Java, Python or Go development. Not sure why Poland would be less friendly for developer Macs than the rest of the world.
