Kind of like how I started cooking sous vide 5 years ago with nothing but a pot, a probe thermometer, some ziplock bags, and a ton of patience. 3 meals later an I was wiring together my first home-made circulator...
Not anywhere close to the $0.20 cost of this paper centrifuge, but still a pretty huge savings compared to the $6k-$10k units generally available currently.
Other than that, lots of use from the kitchen. As a timer, to listen to music, control my Hue lighting....
I also coded up a custom Skill to control my Anova via a little Bluetooth proxy I wrote[1].
It would be really cool if there were an option to show the entropy of a generated password.
Spacemacs recommends[0] using `emacs-mac-port` via homebrew on OSX, but warns of the "strange"[1] emacs server behavior:
""" Note that the emacs-mac-port server behaves differently than the regular Emacs server. Details can be found on the emacs-mac-port README[1]. """
Has anyone taken the time to figure out a workaround to make this work in the traditional emacs manner?

Sourcemaps have been a big help for debugging in general, though we have had several instances of bugs taking a bit of effort to get to the bottom of because of some deep javascript stacktraces -- for the most part the java side of the compiler hasn't been a big deal. Many of these have been type related bugs, so we're looking into adding some schemas[1] going forward where it seems appropriate. Despite those issues, it has overall been a huge productivity boost. We've also witnessed this story only improving with time.
The community truly is fantastic. Lots of very smart, friendly folks doing interesting things.

He had a very interesting segment about the open source HACCP plan discussed in this article a couple of weeks ago. I highly recommend his stuff!
I don't want to put words in Rick's mouth, but I imagine that he means that SICP won't help you learn Clojure the language. Not that SICP won't make you a better programmer in Clojure (and all other languages).
Personally I found it helpful to work through the book in scheme (the language used in the book), porting some of the exercises to Clojure and other languages I'm interested in as a supplement.
