env123··on Adblocking people and non-adblocking people experience a different web
Just use it w/o logging in. I have a YT account, but I never login with Vanced. I only do so when I have something very important to add in the comment section and that happens on the desktop. You don't have to be too paranoid
env123··on Stop Brainstorming
Brainstorming is just a means for discussing ideas. Whether it works is irrelevant, it helps to keep projects moving, rather than being stuck in analysis paralysis
env123··on Buy things, not experiences
The correct answer is BUY THINGS AND/OR EXPERIENCES, so long as you can afford
env123··on Ask HN: Where are you going to find long-form content online these days?
^ This.
env123··on Ask HN: Where are you going to find long-form content online these days?
As much as The Economist is good, it's still news, which has negative effects on the mind + it's too focused on global economy which don't really have any value for me, maybe to an actual economist/global leader, it would

XXX Review of Books are good, but they're basically convoluted essays. Good for anybody else, not for my time though

Aeon focuses much on philosophy. I no longer read this though because it's too academic for my taste

Brain Pickings, Arts & Daily, 3 Quarks Daily focuses much on classics, mostly - I'd rather read classics that reading writings about classics, nowadays

env123··on The tragic rape of Charles Bukowski’s ghost by Black Sparrow Press (2013)
The title is enough of a hint
env123··on Jevons Paradox
1 word: greed
env123··on Why don't I have a blog?
He didn't clarify the title that he's referring to TECH blog for clickbait
env123··on Ask HN: What things has tech made worse in your life?
Smartphones used as cameras on concerts. Annoying for a concert-goer who just want to see the performer in the moment. This is the only time I see the use of Google Glass as a positive
env123··on I read a book that blew my mind a little
Dude, chill out. That's just the format of Twitter, which is limited with N characters per post. Of course the author could have just written in a different medium, and link his blog, but you know how short the attention span of people these days. What's relevant is the message, it doesn't have to be written like an Economist or a New Yorker article
env123··on Great Wall of Lights: China’s sea power on Darwin’s doorstep
I'm reading this and all I'm thinking is: Westerners' ancestors have done worst. China is doing what it's doing because it wants to catch up. At least they're not exploiting other people. And the audacity to call it 'Darwin's doorstep', as if he's a saint. One positive thing I'd attribute to him is he enlightened the Nazis and if it weren't for WW2, colonization wouldn't end
env123··on Fighting Like Taliban
Four in those countries are newly industrialized. They may be not "developed" yet, but they are getting there. I hate this **king division of countries into first world, third world, etc. There are certain cities in a "shithole" country that are far richer and better in certain neighborhoods in a "first-world" country around the world. Anyway, people don't immigrate to the U.S. to be happy - they get there to get better money for their skills, and then come back to visit their home countries on vacation to be "happy"
env123··on Evil programmer's tip: avoid “easy” things (2016)
Eh, not really, it sounds like one of those Robert Greene BS books. Sounds exciting when you're young and inexperienced, but tiresome when you're older and actually wise
env123··on Is Stupidity Expanding? Some Hypotheses
I find it stupid that intelligent people gather together in this echo chamber to talk about stupid people. Wise people just don't care
env123··on 100k Stars
This. I went to thinking the Universal God is more supreme than the Christian God
env123··on Ask HN: Why is 4G not enough and what are the use cases of 5G?
It will also allow pirates to download 1T of data in 1 min, that's the most important thing
env123··on Do You Get Immunity After Recovering from a Case of Coronavirus?
Why is everyone so obsessed with the economy? I think the coronavirus is the perfect defense mechanism from nature for the environment to recover
env123··on US says it can prove Huawei has backdoor access to mobile-phone networks
Opium wars
env123··on Apple engineer killed in Tesla crash had previously complained about autopilot
There is this other technology called "chauffeur"
env123··on Calculate the day of the week for any date in your head
A majority of the earth’s population say they are religious, for cultural/social/safety reasons.

The point is that specific religious leaders would oppose it because it would stop them from controlling the population. I doubt there are religious zealots in this age and era.

env123··on Boeing to Suspend 737 Max Production in January
Why don't they suspend right now immediately, why is it set on January? What are they going to do with the previously produced, currently producing up to 31st of December, 2019? Are they going to blow them up on 2020 like fireworks to celebrate New Year?
env123··on California's Assembly Votes to Allow Communists to Hold State Jobs
Please don't mistake communist party with communist government. Apple in a fruit basket vs apple tree
env123··on Memex: Browser Extension to full-text search your browsing history and bookmarks
Sorry to bother you, but in Indonesia, "X" is spelled "ks"
env123··on California fault capable of producing a magnitude 8 earthquake has begun moving
"A major California fault capable of producing a magnitude 8 earthquake has begun moving for the first time on record, a result of this year’s Ridgecrest earthquake sequence destabilizing nearby faults"

Is that not information enough?

env123··on Samsung: Anyone's thumbprint can unlock Galaxy S10 phone
From what it seems, it records a "flat" fingerprint, because the screen protector is obviously a flat layer on top of the device. So any haptic touch only activates this flat fingerprint
env123··on Depressed People See the World More Realistically (2017)
But wouldn't you say that you see things that way AFTER overcoming depression?
env123··on Xi Jinping's daughter has returned to US to resume studies at Harvard
Perhaps they studied politics very well to understand the positive and negative traits of democracy?
env123··on Nobel Laureates Aim Too Low on Global Poverty
you forgot IMO in your last sentence
env123··on Our unpredictable and overburdened schedules are taking a toll on society
Hence, the rise of individualism and then, narcissism
env123··on A new Mona Lisa queuing system
How about restricting people taking photo of the painting and make them immerse themselves with the art introspectively. There are better, high resolution images of the painting on the internet already, why take a photo? No point in taking a photo just to point out in social media "I've been there"
