Lack of physical activity CAN contribute to stress besides numerous other factors. It's definitely not the major factor for everyone. However, as funny as that cartoon strip might be, there's nothing wrong in using a stress producer (aka your computer) to counter stress. I'm not advocating this as a substitute for physical activity. Just saying that in a busy day, this site seems like a nice aid to calm your mind.

I'm indebted to the amount of amazing tools available by GNU and can't imagine how much they've contributed to the growth of numerous lean startups. Not all open source contributors are great designers and they mostly do this in their spare time.

There was a comment on some forum about a guy who interviewed with them for a job & learnt that they don't have a testing environment. They just push changes to the production code & see how it goes. In my opinion, they were asking for it.

Email in the current form has declining value today, but there's plenty of potential for innovation in email. Those claiming it to be irrelevant are simply twisting & sensationalizing the above fact.

That's a shame. There's plenty of potential in email that's yet to be explored. Gmail was a great step ahead 10 years ago but it hasn't kept pace. Deep integration of email with web has yet to happen.

That may not be true. Look at the low end Lumia, they are moderately spec'd. Even Lumia 720 which is Nexus 4 level device has a quarter of the RAM & works great.

Whatsapp's footprint (memory & battery) on Android is negligible. I love that it just silently works in the background. If I wanted Skype, I'd be installing Skype, so please Whatsapp, do what you do best. Oh wait, there's that new manager of yours who wants to be a part of everyone's private lives. So long.

All these sound interesting to read but none are really practical when it comes to implementing. To a large part, when things have to happen, somehow circumstances contrive you to accomplish it. These 'techniques' are rarely ground breaking for the true-to-the-spirit procrastinator.

Really? The viral growth & popularity of Whatsapp is due to early J2ME versions rather than the widespread adoption of Android. I think it's the latter but maybe I'm mistaken.

I'm saying, lots of people are forced to appear for IIT/IIM due to peer/parental pressure but they are clearly not even close to prepared for it. This isn't the case with ivy leagues i.e. bound-to-be-rejected applicants are far lesser with ivy

Github uses ruby on rails, which is a pretty mature framework, perhaps covering most of the common security pitfalls. Additionally, I assume github has excellent programmers because of the nature of their job.

Could someone explain in simple english, how did they overlook known & well documented bugs that got them hacked (e.g. Bug 3 about cross domain injection). I'm wondering if someone of Github's caliber can be hacked so easily, what about the rest of the masses developing web apps. Especially all those new crypto-currency exchanges popping up left & right.

I've been toying with Django. Reading through the docs makes me feel that as long as I follow the safety guidelines, my app should be safe. It feels as if they've got you covered. But this post rattles my confidence.
