enriquec··on The Death of NYC Congestion Pricing
corruption and incompetence exist.
enriquec··on The Death of NYC Congestion Pricing
you're right but judgmental statists get high off the feeling of control and "fairness" - effectiveness be damned. I thought we absolutely needed the government and taxes for the roads because paying for use would be so "unfair" and "hard" - oh wait, now they want to control what you do because they like bikes so its totally reasonable. Hard to find more statists than in New York

its artificial pricing by definition

The welfare administrators pay no price for being wrong and thus the waste, fraud, and abuse has collapsed them all, throughout all of history.

> Welfare programs mean that life expectabcy is higher, as is quality of life. The US for examole is loosong on both metrics against Europe and ither parts of the world with solid programs. Germanys ascent to economic hight can be in part be traced back to Soziale Marktwirtschaft, combining very solid welfare and social.programs with a free market economy.

You're just saying this when all the evidence is to the contrary. Is Ukraine depending on Germany or the US? (Rhetorical.)

Wrong, its not a prerequisite in any case.

Must not be doing anything very complicated. Wheres your impressive link if thats a prerequisite for discussion? Some ORMs suck, I’ll give you that.

This just tells me they don't understand why any of those things were created and how to actually use them. It won't get traction and it'll wallow and get stale since it'll be an unmaintainable project. Also, VSCode is built on Electron while Photopea and OnlyOffice are straight up painful to use.

could not disagree more. That statement alone makes me completely lose any consideration for this entire project.

enriquec··on Tech sector is pouring billions of dollars into AI. It keeps laying off humans
I would say this is archaic, luddite and unambitious thinking. Did the need for labor decrease after the lightbulb, electricity, or the telegraph? Or did Quality of life go up while projects expanded in scope and we accomplished greater things with more efficiency?
enriquec··on X Announces Peer-to-Peer Payment Service Will Launch in 2024
I think the moderation has gotten far, far better. With dramatically less abusive behavior/speech misinformation - and way more informative. Facebook/instagram/reddit/etc are way way way worse.

That moderation team must have been horrible.

enriquec··on Amazon Prime Video starts showing ads in January unless you pay $2.99/month xtra
Not that I even agree, but I guess the point is that someone so highly paid should be able to find solutions that don't at least feel unfair. I mean most people pay for cable and there's not even a way to not have ads and they increase prices regularly - then again most people do hate the cable companies.
enriquec··on America lost the chestnut, its "perfect tree"
I hate this type of "wrong" comment. Alabama obviously produces a ton of crops as do most of the states. After googling for 2 seconds, I even found Alabama is 2nd in the country as far as peanut production.

I've been programming 20 years and I use one of these combined sans/cursive font setups. I like less legibility for certain parts of the code - like keywords/decorators that I can recognize instantly but want to skip reading/parsing when I want, for instance, to just read function names in collapsed code. I typically set stuff like this to a color closer to the BG too.

enriquec··on Leaving Twitter had no effect on NPR's traffic
I don't know. Are they? That was partly my question - which has not been answered despite the claims confidently made above. Ad revenue being down doesn't strike me as making it a sinking ship. Is revenue not down off its peak for most companies?

The stock certainly has performed far worse before the acquisition - especially relative to others.

enriquec··on Leaving Twitter had no effect on NPR's traffic
By what concrete metric is it a sinking ship?

How's that? If someone says "why am I so overweight?" do you say that it can't be the eating because that hasn't changed?

> Food prices and related prices have been proven for awhile now to be mostly corporations massively increasing profit margins instead of inflation

Total nonsense. Businesses are closing.

Well... How are medical prices? Education prices? Food? Energy? Savings? Rent? Housing? What about the massive layoffs? Even if you're not struggling - many others objectively are dealing with the realities of a harsh economic downturn.

So then it's not a recession solely according to NBER - and this departs from their characterizations for the last 60 years before this last election cycle.

"A recession is a significant, widespread, and prolonged downturn in economic activity. A common rule of thumb is that two consecutive quarters of negative gross domestic product (GDP) growth mean recession, although more complex formulas are also used."

"I'm not obese because I've been over eating. I've always over eaten" The printing isn't new and neither are the recessions. They're just making them worse.
enriquec··on Epic Games is laying off 16% of its staff
Recession = two quarters of negative growth. We've had a lot more. I'm not playing with the kafkaesque political redefinitions and find them pretty pathetic actually.
enriquec··on Epic Games is laying off 16% of its staff
Kind of - but it ignores the fact that the tightening was to fight inflation due to insane amounts of government spending. And the government just upped the ante and is spending more. Right now the national debt is growing faster than the economy. Expect everything to get a lot worse.
