From 2000-2002, Buffet kept liquidity and ended up buying companies like Moody’s and private businesses.
enoint··on Berkshire's $397B Bet Against an Overheated Market
This is their 14th straight quarter of piling cash. Will the same article be written on their 15th, and 16th?

enoint··on Small AI Models Gain Traction In places with unreliable networks
Fascinating to wonder whether the bigger model finds fewer or more counterfeits than the on-device one.

enoint··on Supreme Court upholds broad conception of birthright citizenship
Thomas and Alito complained that they were being impeded from setting executive policy. Very easy to understand the argument that this court is too small.
enoint··on Age verification is just a precursor to automated attribution of speech
Do you have a preferred implementation:

1. Self-attestation

2. Government ID scan

3. Face capture, AI age estimation

4. Cryptographic age token

enoint··on Age verification is just a precursor to automated attribution of speech
I don’t see a groundswell of parents pushing for this. In fact, I suspect the only messages my representative received about this were negative, from parents.

A table will be leaked with your child’s name, birthday, pattern of online access, and brand of phone. To protect your child is to fight that leak. Your representative might say, “oops, cybersecurity so hard, who could have seen this coming?” but his party shields pedophiles.

Someone posting nasty comments online gets to enjoy anonymity. My kids, who know better than to comment at all, still end up on that table.

enoint··on The KIDS Act would require age checks to get online
> If parents were really concerned about this stuff they'd take the time to set up parental controls, but they don't. Which makes me pretty sure the push for all this isn't coming from parents.

I agree and moreover I cannot overstate how I do not want networks to have any PII about my children.

enoint··on Data centers trigger voter backlash
Some information is legally required for them to disclose, if they’re acting in their official capacity. I feel like development on public land is too big to hide.
enoint··on The AI backlash is only getting started
Food is a good example. HN can talk about the effect of AI on industry. The average person is fully prepared to blame AI on any incidental food shortages. Maybe even the next pandemic.
enoint··on White House delays US voting-machine vulnerability report
Where could it have affected totals? Only southern states.

Wisconsin in 2016 couldn’t have changed the electoral college.

enoint··on White House delays US voting-machine vulnerability report
Since the President has no constitutional role in running elections, what do you think this order is meant to do?
enoint··on Russell Vought's Latest Plan to Gut the Government Should Terrify You
With so many strong opinions on the purse strings, maybe he would be better off running for Congress.
enoint··on Military branches restore flu shot requirement after virus swept through base
RFK Jr has elevated mercury; he says due to eating top predator fish. He underwent chelation therapy and still exhibits some of the symptoms in my opinion.
enoint··on Simpler, older version of Stonehenge found three miles from famous site
There’s some charm to the nearby 1919 chalk kiwi bird. WWI New Zealand troops bunked there.
enoint··on Trump Demanded Iran's 'Unconditional Surrender.' He Got a Surprise Instead
The first North Korean test was Oct 2006; he wondered today whether that was Clinton or Obama era.
enoint··on America has lost its war with Iran
Why? The only question left is what humiliation awaits the USA in return for its blood, treasure and reputation?
enoint··on Fox to buy Roku
Waking up one day to see the Fox logo instead of Roku will remind people about the non consensual TV options in a hospital.
enoint··on Cheap Iranian drone downed $25M US Army helicopter–maybe by chance
The French 75 was the best mobile gun in Europe. They entered the war expecting to be mobile and were the first to use poison gas. Compared to the Imperial Russian Navy? I don’t see it. The most dramatic lesson was that Japan prefers surprise attacks.
enoint··on Stolen Lego, Mormons and corrupt Cops – a recap of all the major facts
Thanks for linking to Legally Mine; the executives in common with Bricks & Minifigs, and franchises put up as collateral with Legally Mine.
enoint··on An Ohio Valley 100k-watt FM signal is severed in broad daylight
An example shown when I worked around a 7000A rail was also two men. One formed a circuit and the other tried to pry him off.
enoint··on I Must Attempt to Explain the Lego Scandal Rocking YouTube State of Utah
The Bricks and Minifigs CEO has a degree in psychology from Brigham Young University. The American Fork police are high school graduates, members of the LDS community. In the body cam footage, note how one refers to the other as “brother”.
enoint··on American Wealth, Sliced Up
Maybe envy, as a sin, was easy to see in premodern times; as the number of children, rather than tax bracket.
enoint··on American Wealth, Sliced Up
I wonder how many people think about the options we can offer to our children. Will my future grandchildren have access to gene therapy? Or has generational wealth already closed the door for the upper-middle class? Maybe that’s jealousy or envy.
enoint··on Wind and solar generated more power than gas globally in April 2026
Or under the plume of heavy metals from coal. That land, near the transmission infrastructure of a coal plant, is only good for solar farms.
enoint··on In a first, wind and solar generated more power than gas globally in April 2026
Not per-MWh in North America.
enoint··on U.S. to dismantle system tracking Atlantic currents that are at risk of collapse
It’s seen in Crusader terms. A bunch of things which are not Christian, for example controlling social order at all costs, are adornments on nationalism. The apocalyptic parts of QAnon slot into their belief system. So many other religious movements rely on salvation. Another commenter mentioned ancient China. Big political upheavals swept ancient China based on very slight new ideas about salvation.
