emp17344··on Claude Fable 5.1 and Claude Mythos 5.1
I agree. But it seems like this site has become so radicalized that this measured take is now anathema.
emp17344··on Claude Fable 5.1 and Claude Mythos 5.1
Some of you have gone off the deep end. You’re living in a fantasy world where text predictors are secretly conspiring to kill you. It’s not healthy.
emp17344··on The turbulent AI era is here
I’m talking about the community of economists, not internet randos who quite clearly know nothing about reporting economic data.
emp17344··on The turbulent AI era is here
Are you citing your own uninformed statement to support your claim?
emp17344··on The turbulent AI era is here
Do you know how hard it is to convincingly fabricate economic data? The BLS is under constant public scrutiny. If data fabrication were occurring at the level you seem to think, everybody would know.
emp17344··on The turbulent AI era is here
Based on what evidence? The unemployment rate is very low, and has been for a long time. Why should we take your word for it when it blatantly contradicts real economic data?
emp17344··on The turbulent AI era is here
What unemployment?? The unemployment rate right now is by all reasonable standards very low. Do you have any reason to believe unemployment will suddenly skyrocket? As a result of what factors? I hate to say it, but your analysis here seems based on vibes and not much else.
emp17344··on Timeline of the OpenAI accidental attack against Hugging Face
https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=49150561

Here’s some evidence that OpenAI is actively engaged in fraud.

But I’m sure they wouldn’t commit any other crimes. Pretty sure, at least.

emp17344··on Timeline of the OpenAI accidental attack against Hugging Face
The whole site is suffering from AI psychosis.
emp17344··on Responding to the next frontier of critical cyber capabilities
LOL, we’ll see. Awful convenient that it precisely fits OpenAI’s narrative. At the very least, I think it’s obvious OpenAI is explicitly training models to exhibit this behavior.
emp17344··on U.S. economy lost 23,000 jobs in July, a sudden reversal
No, this is wrong. If you read the report, the bulk of the job contraction was in industries entirely divorced from the tech sector. I don’t understand why you would make this comment without even reading the article, let alone the report itself.
emp17344··on Position: LLMs Can't Jump
LLMs most definitely are limited. What’s your position, that LLMs have no limits? That’s obviously wrong, and the fact you hold such an unreasonable position may be why you react so strongly to pieces like this one.
emp17344··on Eight Myths on Software Engineering and GenAI
No one’s saying that relativity appeared out of thin air, but Einstein still made a conceptual leap that LLMs are incapable of replicating.
emp17344··on Position: LLMs Can't Jump
The worst thing about the AI boom is how tech bros feel comfortable abusing the goalpost fallacy. So annoying.
emp17344··on SQLite Critical CVEs or LLM Slop?
We have reason to believe consciousness cannot be replicated via computation, and reason to suspect consciousness is an important aspect of cognition. Now, what reason do you have for believing intelligence could be replicated computationally?
emp17344··on SQLite Critical CVEs or LLM Slop?
If HN is any indication, many devs have hilariously naive beliefs regarding economics and philosophy and will absolutely refuse to engage with actual arguments or experts within those fields.
emp17344··on Karpathy’s Pelican
Yes, it quite literally is. That’s what RLVR does.
emp17344··on Karpathy’s Pelican
This is so absurdly condescending and simultaneously incorrect that it astounds me you’re able to function as part of a society.
emp17344··on Karpathy’s Pelican
You’d think tech enthusiasts would actually make an attempt to understand the tech they’re enthusiastic about. OpenAI’s mysterianist marketing has broken some people’s brains.
emp17344··on Karpathy’s Pelican
This is a rationalization. The simpler explanation is that the model failed to properly depict the passage. As the AI booster crowd would say, cope.
emp17344··on Karpathy’s Pelican
You are correct. It’s important not to let hype peddlers imply AI possesses consciousness.
emp17344··on Karpathy’s Pelican
Daydreaming is absolutely storytelling. The average person is able to craft elaborate stories on a whim. Writing is used, in part, for conveying stories, but writing is a separate skill. The good news is the average person can learn to write well, but LLMs, so far, have not demonstrated the ability to craft interesting stories and it’s pretty unlikely they’ll be able to learn, as this is an unverifiable domain.
emp17344··on Karpathy’s Pelican
Better than the mean human? The mean human creates far better stories while daydreaming. AI enthusiasts have such a distorted view of human capability, it’s bizarre.
emp17344··on Is AI reasoning right for the wrong reasons?
It’s pretty clear that animals that don’t use a system of language are capable of reasoning. No need to over complicate things.
emp17344··on Be skeptical of OpenAI's rogue hacker agent story
Why would pathological liar Sam Altman be lying this time, though?
emp17344··on Be skeptical of OpenAI's rogue hacker agent story
Good lord, why are you so angry that people are treating an obvious advertisement with due skepticism? Your post is chock full of emotional language - no one is “screeching” anything.
emp17344··on Claude Opus 5
It’s either advertising, or they’re idiots, because the apocalypse keeps not happening. Either way, it’s not worth listening to them.
emp17344··on OpenAI’s accidental attack against Hugging Face is science fiction that happened
>Stop trying to find a gotcha.

Surely notorious liar Sam Altman wouldn’t lie this time.

emp17344··on OpenAI’s accidental attack against Hugging Face is science fiction that happened
Genuine AI psychosis. People take OpenAI marketing material way too seriously.
emp17344··on A digestion of the Jacobian conjecture counterexample
Anthropic could audit the model to find the answer. It’s telling that they won’t do this.
