I'm perusing his essays and he looks like one heck of an interesting writer. Thanks for the pointer hga.

Just some simple drawings on what seemed one day to me to be the main components of education. Illustrated through capoeira, it should apply to any field: programming, foreign languages, medicine... Perhaps it can be of interest to others, spur interesting conversation?

Thanks for the thoughtful comment bmelton. I very deliberately restrained from commentary to focus all the attention on what I really wanted to say: the picture.

I tend to overindulge in commentary and analysis, but I believe that even more than as filters of news, the true strength of reddits is in analysis filtering.

I also submitted it to Reddit, where it's had some success too. http://www.reddit.com/r/reddit.com/comments/8yhay/what_if_yo... (and has proved quite controversial.) But the most striking thing is the different quality and spirit of their comments to those from here.

Exactly! That was curiously one of the things that most surprised me from the article, I didn't know other fellow programmers put the same song over and over. I used to try to fight it, to expand my musical culture, but I see now that there are reasons why I kept doing it.

Ah, I see, I didn't even know there was a difference, thanks for pointing it out. I've always like the word "bar graph" more (it's more transparent), so bar graphs they are now!

The histograms are:

For Reddit, they are of a headline's votes, of a headline's number of comments, and of a comment's votes.

For Delicious, they are of the numbers of users that have bookmarked a link, or applied a tag.

For Digg, of a headline's diggs, of a headline's number of comments, and of a comment's diggs.

For Hacker News, of a headline's upvotes, of a headline's number of comments, and of a comment's upvotes.

For StackOverflow, of a question's views, of an answer's votes, of the number of users that have applied a tag, of a user's reputation score.

It's hopefully all obvious once you install the script.
