eklavya··on Vietnamese property tycoon sentenced to death in $27B fraud case
You are very focused on the Noida scene. That's an outlier in the Indian real estate situation right now. Almost everywhere, there is a "shortage" of housing, forget about ghost cities. Also after RERA, a lot has changed. You seem very confident in your analysis but honestly you need to look up more.

The backbenchers are doing a better job than mr Rajan, growth numbers are easy to judge for all.

eklavya··on Anatomy of a credit card rewards program
In India, merchants have a choice and they regularly charge more for using credit cards.
eklavya··on Commission opens non-compliance investigations against Alphabet, Apple and Meta
What do you do for a living?
eklavya··on Ente: Open-Source, E2E Encrypted, Google Photos Alternative
Ok, the reason I asked is that I have been searching for a photos solution myself. I am not sure if it's a god idea to pursue and if there is actually a market for it. If there is, maybe not a bad idea to explore a bit.
eklavya··on Ente: Open-Source, E2E Encrypted, Google Photos Alternative
What exactly would you want? Would you be willing to pay for it? How much?
eklavya··on Apple reverses course on death of Progressive Web Apps in EU
After using an iPhone for more than 7 years, I started using Android again, close to 1.5 years now. Honestly don't miss a thing. I have realized I don't care about mobile or desktop OS these days. I use the same apps everywhere. Although browser experience is much better on Android.
eklavya··on Indian government moves to ban ProtonMail after bomb threat
Yeah not like they won a case in supreme court or something. Do you honestly believe they couldn't have done that with violence in all these years?

I don't understand, some people here just really have a beef with India/Hindus.

eklavya··on Yann LeCun: Human-level artificial intelligence is going to take a long time
In that scenario, you are the one claiming we will "never" fly to jupiter.
eklavya··on Post-mortem for last week's incident at Kagi
That's essentially on call 101, you try to mitigate as fast as possible and root cause later when you are not half asleep. Surprised to see some comments here.
eklavya··on We switched to Java 21 virtual threads and got a deadlock in TPC-C for Postgres
I would like to take this opportunity to thank pron and the amazing jdk developers for working on a state of the art runtime and language ecosystem and providing it for free. Please ignore the entitled, there are many many happy Dev's who can't thank you all enough.
eklavya··on Get a Windows 11 development environment
Doesn't work with vbox 7, try 6.
eklavya··on Get a Windows 11 development environment
This is the only reason why I can still support a windows app, thanks for this MS.
eklavya··on Raspberry Pi is manufacturing 70K Raspberry Pi 5s per week
You can power it on over lan, right?
eklavya··on OpenD, a D language fork that is open to your contributions
Hopefully with Valhalla landing, memory footprint can also go down enough.
eklavya··on OpenD, a D language fork that is open to your contributions
I should take this to the security team although I have a hunch that they'll think I am full of shit. What with the CVE count never going down with asan, ubsan, tsan and all kinds of guidelines, analyzers, tests and what not.
eklavya··on OpenD, a D language fork that is open to your contributions
I am yet to see someone who can't make memory safety mistakes in C++. You might want to start a tutorial series on how to do that. If this skill can be taught that is, and isn't genetic.
eklavya··on Canonical to Work on Improving Snap Support Across Linux DIstributions
As a developer, I really liked the packaging experience of snapcraft. Flutter apps are really easy to make a snap for. Great news that it's going to be easier across the ecosystem.
eklavya··on Three chips in and Google Tensor is on life support
You keep saying, "honestly" and "in my opinion" and yet you are dismissive. I can absolutely see how many people can depend on it. You seem to have no idea how useful this is for many many folks. I miss it dearly in Android.
eklavya··on Reflecting on 18 Years at Google
And this is why it's getting incredibly difficult to have open honest discussions. It has to be about somebody's identity credentials somewhere. So tired of this nonsense.
eklavya··on YouTube's plan backfires, people are installing better ad blockers
The rule of give and take. You get something, they get something. What's your stance on big companies profiting off of open source tech without giving absolutely anything back? Do you think they have any obligations at all?
eklavya··on YouTube's plan backfires, people are installing better ad blockers
Yes, you can choose to take advantage of any system by not playing by the rules. I pray to God it doesn't become a paid only service cutting off the poor people who are poor but not cheap.
eklavya··on YouTube's plan backfires, people are installing better ad blockers
Wikipedia is a non profit and runs on donations. Static text vs YouTube scale service are also very very different in costs. That tutorial on internet is free, I can download the whole thing on my computer, why is that 5 years university degree program charging fees?
eklavya··on YouTube's plan backfires, people are installing better ad blockers
That's adjusted in the price, at least in my country (India) it's pretty cheap and I like how the vast majority is able to access all the content for free since it's ad supported. It has made a huge difference in many people's lives.
eklavya··on YouTube's plan backfires, people are installing better ad blockers
No, you have to pay for it. It's not charity and you are not entitled. You can choose to not watch ads but don't cope by pretending to be moral or ethical about it.
eklavya··on WasmGC – Run GC languages such as Kotlin, Java in Chrome browser
Anybody knows if this will reduce the first download sizes for flutter web?
eklavya··on Google Proposes New Mseal() Memory Sealing Syscall for Linux
He is being a raging asshole by behaving like one?

How is it ok to berate a contribution like that? Is it encouraging more people to contribute? Is it creating a positive environment? Let's park that for now, is it helping the technical discussion at all? It's just power tripping on the gatekeeper status.

All of this could be said in a technical, professional manner. Many many great programmers do it everyday, sorry Linus, nobody is a God. People are not anybody's toilet paper.

eklavya··on Google Proposes New Mseal() Memory Sealing Syscall for Linux
Maybe this hero worship is why being a raging asshole is ok.
eklavya··on How China's “debt traps” work
Not in India, developers can sell before building but the money is in an escrow and released as the construction progresses. Also penalties and interest on any delays. I don't think selling unbuilt buildings is the bad thing, it's having no regulations or protections alongside that.

eklavya··on Meta and Salesforce are looking to re-hire some workers they just laid off
But there is some truth here that the car factories are not trying to change/reinvent their tools every 6 months.
