That's pretty much what RHEL and Ubuntu LTS are. Stable for 10 years.

The comments make it sound as if Oracle can just demand money from any Java user. That's not the case, if you were already paying for Oracle Java and support, there seems to have been a change of terms.

If you don't need the support, just use openjdk, what's the problem? What's with the insistence on providing something for free or however much you want to pay for it? Get better terms or switch vendors! Java is an abundant ecosystem with multiple paid support providers.

Why bother? What do you think would be the HN reaction if the attack in pahalgam played out in any western country? I would love to see CNN and others report about jingoism and nationalism then. The main difference is liveness of the stream. Live streams are much much more difficult and much less forgiving.

I started using Windows fully after like 15 years. I really like Windows 11 after running the debloater. WSL2 seems to work pretty seamlessly. I built this machine for gaming but now I use it as my primary machine and have stopped using my macbook completely.

I tried to do linux on the box instead of windows, but I ran into: - No fractional scaling support except for KDE. - I can't for the life of me, stop X from using the discrete Nvidia card (I use AMD integrated for display). It wants to sit on the card even when there are no processes running on it through X. - Wayland fractional scaling is unsupported in chrome and electron still. - No HDR. - Font rendering is painful to look at with fractional scaling.

Wasted a LOT of time trying to get this working before giving up and just using WSL2. Everything works in Windows, which is not unexpected. It's amazing already what a community of volunteers is giving me for free!

Last I checked it wasn't true at least for Ultimate, is Rider treated differently?

Rust, the language can not push any politics. For me, technical stuff and politics are disjoint sets. I do not care at the least what the political leanings of people I work with are. To me it sounds as none of my business as what car they drive or what perfumes they like.

I don't. I haven't experienved any lags. My mother has had a samsung m30 for a while and everytime I used it, it was absolutely fine. This was a 4.5 years old phone. I got her a samsung a35 this time.

I used to not understand this as well. Then I switched to Android after some 8 years and can't really remember why I "needed" iOS. Everything works and I am happy. really just choose the better product (for you). Linux has had support for not doing duplicate pages for a long time now. I am forgetting the name of the feature but essentially this duplication is a solved problem.

Bytecode will only impact packing, so more efficient ram, cache and cpu wise. But I don't understand how it would help with branching? You still have to make the same decisions? As in the bytecode executor still needs to do differnt things based on the op code, its not in hardware.
