eggpy··on Trump Strategic and Policy Forum, Which Included IBM and GM CEOs, Disbands
True, but that carried a lot of Republican support and was not just a Trump initiative.
eggpy··on We Fight for the Users
200 people were indicted on rioting charges. What use does the 1.3 million IP addresses have in those cases? How can the DoJ justify that disparity? So yes, it is a little scary.

Tell that to EOTO[0]! Two of the guys from String Cheese Incident have a pretty killer EDM band that I've seen melt the face off 20 year olds.

eggpy··on It's Never Too Late to Learn Guitar
Eh, I've been playing guitar for a decade and I have no desire to perform. I largely play on my own, and occasionally with friends. So any semblance of public persona or what I look like playing guitar has zero relevance to a hobby that I greatly enjoy. But I guess I'm somewhat opposed to picking hobbies based on "how cool" they are. Hobbies should be fun.

Also, "sexy gods" generally applied to 20 year old guitarists anyways. The middle aged guitar gods didn't _start_ as middle-aged. Their fame carried them.

mosquito tone?
eggpy··on How Information Got Re-Invented
Another decent in-depth book on this topic that I can recommend is The Information: A History, A Theory, A Flood by James Gleick[0]. A bit dry at times but somewhat interesting if anyone is looking for a high-level look at quantifying and managing information.

Well yeah. There's not even competition there. And shouldn't be really, they are fundamentally different platforms.

eggpy··on Four Earth-sized planets detected orbiting the nearest sun-like star
We'd have to figure out how to get the earth spinning beyond the escape velocity of the Sun. So, probably not just by manipulating the orbit of the moon.
eggpy··on Four Earth-sized planets detected orbiting the nearest sun-like star
I understand that. I guess I don't know how small we can reliably view transits. We can certainly see large planet transits. Perhaps planets of this size are too small to view at this distance/ with this star type with our current technology. Just because we haven't observed a transit doesn't mean the transit isn't happening. But again, I don't really know this specific circumstance.
eggpy··on Four Earth-sized planets detected orbiting the nearest sun-like star
Can you say they _don't_ transit? They say the planets were detected by analyzing star wobbles, which doesn't necessarily mean that the planets don't transit, just that it's not how they were detected.
