I've noticed how desperately every streamer tries to find questions in a long chat history.
This definitely lacked of some convenient tool:
— I’ll make it!, — dawned on me.
But it was not that straight — I already had an idea of a platform with working title “Add, Fix, Remove”. Place, where, say visitor of B&B, can leave not usual feedback for future visitors, but some advices for a host: “Add hook on the bathroom door”, “Fix stinky sink in the kitchen”, “Remove that round table”, etc.
I agreed with myself that it should be one thing. So here it comes — https://www.evryca.com
For the sake of progress through exchange of ideas.
Will be glad to get some advice on what pitfalls I should expect, while building discussion platform.
I was confused and still don't know what's the deal, but to dig deeper firstly wanted to check if this channel really stands out and find:
— if it's unusual to have <500 views per video for 150K channel,
— if there is any visible relation between subscribers and views count.
So I used YouTube API to fetch data about all 346 channels I'm subscribed to and found that:
— some channels provide no stats, so after filtering them out only 333 left,
— having less than 500 views per video for 100K+ channel is unusual, and
— that in general 30% of subscribers watch new posts.
If you want to repeat the exercise with your channels, you'll need some basic Git and Python experience and get YouTube Data API key.

But after thinking a bit I found clipleap.com and consider switching to it. Could you please suggest how it sounds to you? If you were to chose would you switch?
I wonder why Clippy is not and lol?)
I was so excited of what I get, so decided to share core idea as pre-Beta, with few hardcoded example videos and no user registration. If you fill that you can use it or just would like to see where it goes — please subscribe to be informed when it ready: http://eepurl.com/gPFUR5
Please let me know if there already is such platform and I just don’t see it)
I would appreciate any feedback: directly to keeper@clippopo.com or comment here.
Currently I learn to analyse HN posts (stories to be precise)
At the moment of writing 849451 items have been posted since 29th of August (IDs between 21682006 and 20832555).
Among those only 81300 are stories (HN’s term for post).
To find out which you could use HackerNews API and fetch every of 849451 items and check if it’s a story for 117 hours (assuming 2 requests per second).
Or periodically fetch endpoint which dumps IDs of last 500 stories (it would take 38 minutes to find these IDs by going backwards from last item, in my case 21682006 - 21677389 = 4617 items to check)
Back in the end of August I’ve set a script that gets those 500 IDs every two hours and saves new ones.
I've noticed that often people sharing images with details in subject either:
— describe image (say in comments) shortly, because it's not convenient, or
— put description in comment with need to tell where to watch (e.g. top right corner), far from image, or
— use some tool (Photoshop?) to embed description into image.
So I develop and recently released platform where users can describe details of images and share link to it — DESCRiBE (https://www.descr.be)
I've added sample posts to explore possible use cases:
— Lunar features (craters and seas) — https://www.descr.be/posts/2
— Manhattan skyline — https://www.descr.be/posts/3
— University of Oxford aerial — https://www.descr.be/posts/25
— Few reef fishes — https://www.descr.be/posts/4
— Stuff for filmmaking — https://www.descr.be/posts/6
— Notebook stickers — https://www.descr.be/posts/1
I invite you to check it, tell what you think and remember to use, when you’ll need to annotate something — describe it and share a link.
Hope it will be useful and make Internet a better place.
Near future plans:
+ allow links,
– stick annotations while scrolling tall images,
– adopt for small screens,
– add categories.
