That is one topic touched in the article. They want to monitor it in its unaltered Form.
eddyzh··on Notes on OpenAI's new o1 chain-of-thought models
Do not... does not work well for LLM's. Instructing what to do instaed of X works better.

say AFAIK instead of explaining your limitations.

Say "let's try again" instead of making exuses.

Etc

eddyzh··on Google's AI Search Gives Sites Dire Choice: Share Data or Die
Monopoly does monopoly things. It baffles me if this thurns out to be legal.
eddyzh··on Launch HN: Airhart Aeronautics (YC S22) – A modern personal airplane
Many European countries disagree. In the Netherlands (40k km2) there are about 400 trainstations and all of them cost a fraction of any reasonable airstrip and can go to the heart of the town.
eddyzh··on Copying is the way design works (2020)
Insightful perspective.

Maybe interesting to point out from what year it is. It looks like 2020.

eddyzh··on Ask HN: How to finish last 30% of a side project?
This is my experience too. For any of my day job projects. Which is the best explanation to your title question
eddyzh··on Why Nothing Can Grow on Mars
I love how the author points out repeatedly that the chance of achieving the goal are abysmal and then goes on about how they try anyway.

It is very informative.

eddyzh··on Apple Reportedly Suspends Work on Vision Pro 2
The price would be defendable on a more mature device if developers would be free to develop stuff for it as on a Mac.

For now it was not worth it even though the hardware was nice.

eddyzh··on Apple apologizes for iPad 'Crush' ad that 'missed the mark'
And because of the pushback the ad is talked about and watched even more. I am sure this was anticipated and taken as calculated decision.

Whatever your response, the product and brand is so big that the point that the ad wants to make remains.

There is no such thing as bad publicity when your goal is getting attention.

I personally find it very rude.

Marketing wise doing rude things is smart.

eddyzh··on I Lost Faith in Kagi
Thanks for your response!

Honestly I get the T-shirt part this way. You got to Doo crazy stuff as a start-up. I also get that you try ai stuff. As long as you keep up de search.

However what scares me is the apparent lack of knowledge about privacy, gdpr and what is PII in a product that, to me, is all about privacy. Have one person in the company be an expert in privacy and GDPR etc and use their insights, since it is critical for your right of existence.

eddyzh··on Google search is losing the fight with SEO spam, study says
What makes you think that kagi uses Google? To my understanding that is utterly incorrect.
eddyzh··on My daily driver is older than I thought; it's positively vintage
Having a Mac work well for 7 years is definitely what you can expect.

Especially if you take care of the battery and/or replace it some time.

eddyzh··on Ask HN: What are good books/blogs to read for a first time CTO?
It's old but a mythical man month is where dev management books realy started.
eddyzh··on Tcl intros dome-shaped monitors for simulator gaming
I currently have a Setup with 3 screens a big 4k + a wuxga + laptop. The 4k would work a lot better with dome shape. Now the angle is pretty bad for the lower part.
eddyzh··on UK age assurance guidance for porn sites gives thumbs up to AI age checks
While this might not be such a bad idea if it would not decrease privacy, this is actually a horrible idea since it wil only be enforceable on the big players and make minors go to the sites that are illegal and more disturbing anyway. Unless of course they manage to completely control the internet from provider level. Which would end an area.
eddyzh··on OpenAI aimed for a unique tech giant, but the reality may differ
Great recent summary
eddyzh··on Show HN: There are over a thousand possible finger arrangements for your hands
Yep i learned counting on my hands in Binary very fast as a kid. Pretty unimpressive skill in normal company it turns out however.
eddyzh··on Why Marketers Are Afraid of Kindness
Very interesting read.
eddyzh··on Blockbusters are failing but how that changes Hollywood is anyone's guess
Cbc.ca article by Jackson Weaver via ghostarchive.org/ The article contains a lot of interesting sources about a changing paradime.
eddyzh··on JP Morgan fined by SEC for deleting email records
The accident is not the deleting but the not having sufficient backups.
eddyzh··on Iron fuel shows its mettle
It is not an energy source. It is a (battery) energy storage solution that can scale. Meant to support renewables use at night/ low sun/low wind periods. And not on hourly scale like normal batteries but on year scale on plant level.

Like in an energy plant. That during the day when there Is surpluses they generate iron powder from ironoxide and cheap electricity. And when there is no surplus they burn the iron powder to irononoxid. And they can both be stored at unlimited scale on a heap.

eddyzh··on Iron fuel shows its mettle
You can store the oxidized iron on a heap outside indefinitely.
eddyzh··on ChatGPT conversations can be shared publicly
AFAIK since 3.5 only has one model this is not displayed there. Model default means, gtp4
eddyzh··on MRI brain images become 64M times sharper
The mouse is dead. And they cut it up to cross-reference the data form slices.

What does this have to do with MRI on a living human?
