When commenting on HN, the most important thing for me is to make sure I speak my mind rather than conform to common opinions/gather the karma etc. In this way I contribute to reducing the filter bubble that is present in all online communities, including HN. Speak your mind, that's what matters.

dvfjsdhgfv··on Project Glasswing: Securing critical software for the AI era
> I had to build some tools around linting entire projects

OK, everybody is doing that. And everybody is doing their best at making LLMs more reliable when working on non-trivial tasks. Yet, it looks like nobody came up with a universal solution yet. This is particularly true for non-trivial projects.

dvfjsdhgfv··on Google open-sources experimental agent orchestration testbed Scion
This is the exact opposite of my experience. Maybe it was true 10 years ago when K8s was new and trendy so many engineers wanted to try it out. Now it's just boring tech at large orgs.
dvfjsdhgfv··on Is Germany's gold safe in New York ?

This is a very weak punishment for what Russia is doing every day.

Well... Maybe, but what's the point of an answer if you can't trust it? For ultra-fast answers for unimportant stuff I keep Cerebras tab open.

> Who is "we"? Definitely not Google or any other major tech company, they're all actively encouraging this.

Google has been fighting aggressively to replace its search results with snippets, now generated by LLMs, to avoid sending traffic to other websites. If they continue, they will basically lead Google Search to a tipping point where a good competitor can take this market by storm. Microsoft also believed Windows is indestructible and now they have a rude awakening.

dvfjsdhgfv··on ESP32-S31: Dual-Core RISC-V SoC with Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, and Advanced HMI
> Not sure I understand your question

I'm not sure why you are not sure - S3 was using Cadence's Xtensa 32-bit LX7 dual-core microprocessor, but the article on S31 only mentions "dual core" without too much detail.

dvfjsdhgfv··on Iran strikes leave Amazon availability zones "hard down" in Bahrain and Dubai
Tangentially related but Iran wasn't much of a threat to the USA before Trump decided to attack it. And apart from Israel, nobody is backing this war. The sooner he realizes it makes zero sense, the better for the whole world. It seems that apart from Russia and the USA, other countries are not so eager to start wars. And what is happening now is a bitter lesson also for China: starting a war is easy, winning it is nearly impossible. So I hope we won't really start to build all infra in under-earth bunkers after all.
dvfjsdhgfv··on Delve removed from Y Combinator
> YC is, ultimately, not responsible for what these startups choose to do.

Formally they might not be (depends on the case), but morally they are.

dvfjsdhgfv··on Tell HN: Anthropic no longer allowing Claude Code subscriptions to use OpenClaw
> You are paying to be using that limit some of the time.

This makes zero sense. I'm paying to use that limit all of the time. If that's too much for Anthropic, they are free to lower the limits or increase the price. Claiming otherwise would be false advertising.

dvfjsdhgfv··on Full network of clitoral nerves mapped out for first time
> Like, imagine documentation on object oriented programming being removed because it offended some functional programming folks.

Let's not pretend we are fundamentally different from people living in other epochs, just biases change. We literally changed branch names of git repos because some people in one big country felt the naming could be offensive to another group of people.

dvfjsdhgfv··on Copilot edited an ad into my PR
Most larger orgs I worked for used Gitlab rather than Github.

Anyway, the core value of Github has always been collaboration - this is where people were. If people go to other platforms, this core value dwindles. And switching platforms is not that difficult.

dvfjsdhgfv··on The first 40 months of the AI era
I basically agree with the practical conclusion:

> For now at least I’m keeping my Claude Pro subscription, but given the persistant rumors of undisclosed rate limiting, and ever improving performance of local LLMs, I can easily imagine that I’ll cancel my subscription before the end of the year.

dvfjsdhgfv··on Make macOS consistently bad unironically
This trend was obvious when they started removing physical buttons. My thought was, man these people do put so much faith in software.
dvfjsdhgfv··on Make macOS consistently bad unironically
I'm very worried one day Apple will start enforcing upgrades to Tahoe just like Microsoft is doing with Windows.
dvfjsdhgfv··on Is anybody else bored of talking about AI?
I'm doing a lot, I see a lot of improvement, I see a lot of uses, but still consider the current generation of agentic coding simply not working for something more than a toy project - no matter how much skills, harnesses and what not you include. Happy to be proven otherwise, but Anhtropic's CCC is a good case in point.

Sorry, what is pi and how are you using it with ChatGPT for agentic coding?

dvfjsdhgfv··on Anthropic takes legal action against OpenCode
Literally everyone is desperately trying to figure out why it's so bad and how to make it work consistently using harness etc. But in spite of this massive effort things always go awry after a while. Maybe in a year or two someone figures it out.
dvfjsdhgfv··on AI coding is gambling
Frankly, I created dozen of such projects in the last weeks. Recently I just deleted them all. I feel like there's no point. I cancelled my Claude subscription, too.

I got back learning from books and use LLMs for "review my code in depth and show me its weak points" occasionally.

dvfjsdhgfv··on Ask HN: How is AI-assisted coding going for you professionally?
> - a side project to do rough cuts of family travel videos (https://usefirstcut.com, soft launch video: https://x.com/xitijpatel/status/2026025051573686429)

I can't comment about the quality of the code you delivered for your client so I checked your side project. Unfortunately it looks like there is only a landing page (very nice!) but the way from a vibe-coded project to production is usually quite long.

dvfjsdhgfv··on Ask HN: How is AI-assisted coding going for you professionally?
> A smarter model would be great but there are bigger productivity gains to be had with a good set up, a faster model, and abstracting away the need to think about agents or context usage. I’m still figuring out a good set up. Something with the speed of Haiku with the reasoning of Opus without the overhead of having to think about the management of agents or context would be sweet.

I was thinking about this recently. This kind of setup is a Holy Grail everyone is searching for. Make the damn tool produce the right output more of the time. And yet, despite testing the methods provided by the people who claim they get excellent results, I still come to the point where the it gets off rails. Nevertheless, since practically everybody works on resolving this particular issue, and huge amounts of money have been poured into getting it right, I hope in the next year or so we will finally have something we can reliably use.

dvfjsdhgfv··on Ask HN: How is AI-assisted coding going for you professionally?
> If you aren't doing this level of work by now, you will be automated soon.

It's harder and harder to detect sarcasm these days but in case you're being serious, I've tested a similar setup and I noticed Claude produces perfectly plausible code that has very subtle bugs that get harder and harder to notice. In the end, the initial speedup was gone and I decided to rewrite everything by hand. I'm working on a product where we need to understand the code base very well.

Claude will happily generate tons of useless code and you will be charged appropriately. the output of LLMs has nothing to do with payment rates, otherwise you end up with absurdities like valuating useless CCC that was very expensive to build using LOCs as a metrics whereas in reality is a toy product nobody in their right mind would ever use.
dvfjsdhgfv··on Please Do Not A/B Test My Workflow
Can you share a setup that works for you? I found vanilla opencode vastly inferior to CC, I use it only for little toys like 3 small files that's all.
