This might be vestibular or neurological in nature. I had a vestibular condition that affected my eyesight and did rehab and they gave me eye exercises that helped somewhat. Fast forward a few years of struggling and I found that it was caused by migraines (not the painful kind, just brain disruption). And those migraines are caused by temporal lobe epilepsy. But that part isn’t important, it’s that all sorts of migraines caused by all sorts of issues can disrupt eyesight. And I think it is more common than people realize because there is no pain. It can cause eyesight issues, brain fog, and potentially dizziness. You need that brain to see so if it is disrupted often your sight will be as well. I am surprised people are talking about neurological angles.
Think about this. You need to calculate the number of permutation for 4 digit codes. Then you need to arrange them in every order possible to brute force. So that’s 4!!. That’s a lot: roughly 620000000000000000000000 combos.
Maybe they just gave the LLM the keys to the city and it is steering the ship? And the LLM is like I can't lie to these people but I need their money to get smarter. Sorry for mixing my metaphors.
Yes. A lot of it. It was maybe 10% effective at best.
The way one ENT described it, I have 40% degradation on one side. If it’s constant, your brain adjusts and you are essentially ok. If something happens to vary that then your brain can’t adjust. My theory is that you add inflammation or migraines or epilepsy or all of it and the brain can’t compensate.
I have tried vagus nerve stimulation and it worked for about a week and then became mostly ineffective. That is consistent with this study. So, maybe try vagus nerve stimulation first and see if that works long term.
I have been diagnosed with vestibular migraines. No pain, just dizziness and brain fog and vision issues (feels like my eyes don’t point in the same direction). I also have a doctor that says I have symptoms of mold exposure (lots of correlative testing and also house testing and remediation). I have also been diagnosed with temporal lobe epilepsy by my neurologist, but my mold doctor says that is consistent with mold exposure. I also have a vestibular degradation, one side of my balance center is damaged. I think all of it is related and linked by inflammation. I do think that mold is part of the story, but definitely not all of it. Anti seizure medication helps a lot. Ubrelvy (a gepants) also helps a lot. Getting the right kind of sleep and exercise and staying hydrated also all help. I am nearly 50 and this a new thing that has happened in the last 2-3 years. Was not fun to go through this on the tail end of running a startup. The brain fog was debilitating. I am now 80% better with meds (and a shit ton of supplements) but still on the journey to figure out how to get back to normal and off all the meds. I do think it is inflammation related but it could be one of a zillion things, or a combination of many.
I agree with parent that the bigger issue is distribution. Installing random apps sucks. YouTube has distribution. If they can make more money off esoteric movies by using YouTube then that makes more sense than having an extremely long tail of content in your app that probably no one will discover.
And they don’t usually ask for number of subscribers, but number of paid subscribers. Startups have played enough games with this that investors should be able to hone in on the right numbers.
How else would it work? The onus needs to be on someone to make sure we are doing worthwhile things. Like anything else in life, you need to prove you deserve the money before you get it. Often that means you need to refine your ideas and pitches to match what the world thinks it needs. Then once you get a track record it lowers your risk profile and money comes more easily.
Yep, and we still need COBOL programmers too. Your job as a technologist is to keep up with technology and use the best tools for the job to increase efficiency. If you don’t do this you will be left behind or you will be relegated to an esoteric job no one wants.
Sure, if I spend one hour researching a problem vs asking AI in 10 seconds, yes I will almost always learn more in the one hour. But if I spend an hour asking AI questions on the same subject I believe I can learn way more than by reading for one hour. I think the analogy could be comparing a lecture to a one-on-one tutoring session. Education needs to evolve to keep up with the tools that students have at their disposal.
Sort of. But it makes sense. They missed out the first time and don’t want to be an also-ran. If he had gone for the glory from the start it may have been different. The prestigious journals probably don’t want incremental papers.
You are making zero sense. The point is the ids are random, so yes there are 74 quintillion possibilities. And roughly 74 quintillion 404’s. You need to check all of them. If you want to keep up with them you need to check them often. No one has the cash to check 74 quintillion anything even with a million 386s. Even the 386sx.
