I still do the average color thing today since it's easy to calculate and store server side (I resize the uploaded image to 1x1 px and just record the result as a hex code in the DB).

On Android you can even do this on your phone in Firefox. The UI is a bit tricky on such a small device, but it's so worth it. I went so far as to uninstall Chrome (well, disable it) on my Android.I eventually got sick of the coke bottles and got Lasik. I can see better than I ever thought possible, but the recovery was brutal. It was more than two years before I could go a day without Systane Ultra.
I'm using it right now to reply. It's easy to just plug in the phone to the USB cable my work laptop uses.
It's the karate chop flashlight that keeps me on Moto for my Android.
One thing not mentioned is that this phone has a desktop mode they call "Ready For". I can plug it into my monitor via USB-C and you get a full ChromeOS looking desktop. I have a USB-C monitor with Mouse/Keyboard plugged in and that all worked. I also tried it on a regular TV with a USB-C -> HDMI cable and a XBox controller paired to the phone.

I did a Mac Mini and also a Powerbook G4. They work great in both.
I ran 10.4 and Void (no longer maintained) so if there's a technical reason to stay on mSATA for Mac OS 9 please ignore. ;)
I also dual boot, in addition to being an incurable distro hopper, and these AX210 cards worked out of the box in basically everything.
For obvious reasons AMD boards don’t tend to ship with Intel wifi, but in my experience anything else sucks. The intel 6e cards are amazing and dirt cheap.
You can't beat SQLite for ease of use. I'd try it out and simulate some load to see if SQLite can keep up, if you keep your inserts simple I bet it can.
If you're chasing FPS in AAA games it's not going to cut it, but it boots in seconds, loads apps quickly, plays streaming video perfectly...
I'm using an old x99 board for my desktop currently. If I swap out the i7 with a Xeon it can take up to 512GB of ram. That would be pricey, but I could do 256 and the Xeon for under $300 total. Still a lot for a toy, and I'm sure it would be super slow...
I just looked it up and that CPU came out in 1996, at the same time Intel released their 200Mhz Pentium. Alpha was way ahead of their time.
Primarily I used it to google the address of a place I wanted to go so I could enter that in my TomTom. Times have changed.
> Lastly, we identified a specific gene called HLA-DQA2, which was expressed (activated to produce a protein) at a much higher level in the volunteers who did not go on to develop a sustained infection
So everybody has this gene, but it was more expressed in those who didn't get sick. What causes the difference? Something genetic or something environmental?
My actual goal was to setup QBasic for my son, which I did-- but he thought it was stupid and refused to even let me show him how to code a Hello World app on it. :(
And like you said, the vulnerability consideration makes HT a hard sell for workloads that would benefit (hypervisors).
That i7 is a huge downgrade from what I was running before (long story) so I'm looking forward to Arrow Lake and I like everything I've read. In addition to removing HT, they're supporting Native JEDEC DDR5-6400 Memory so XMP won't be necessary. I've never liked XMP/Expo...
Gifski took 11 seconds, and GIF Brewery took 59. Both apps set to maximum quality, 50fps, no resizing. The Gifski version is a little bigger at 5.5mb vs 4.2mb but also looks a bit better.
I embed short screen recording GIFs into GitLab/GitHub several times a week as it's just a better user experience vs real video files on those platforms. I'm definitely switching tools! I wish I had known about this sooner.
To upgrade would mean paying more than double what we pay now per month and starting a new 30 year mortgage in my 40's, which I'm just not going to do.
