dude3··on As Hospital Prices Soar, a Single Stitch Tops $500
http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/news/washington/2011-05-09-un... 49 billion in 2011. Yes and that's a far off estimate. Just go to the billing dept. in any major hospital in the Southwest. The gov needs to pay its bills. Yes, and hospital costs are out of control and need to come down.

dude3··on Benchmarking Codswallop: Node.js vs. PHP
I have used RollingCurl (non blocking CURL) to fetch multiple API requests at once using PHP. Really easy to implement using a simple class. The example shows how you could build a simple efficient scraper.
dude3··on Bloomberg News Is Said to Curb Articles That Might Anger China
Drudgereport.com, generally a hawkish site, is accessible in China, Nytimes is not. In fact, no conservative websites are blocked.

The Chinese elite/the ones making the rules that you refer of, are the ones buying the houses. Who can buy a 10th house a 7,900 miles away that costs 2.5 million in cash? Mark Z Yes. If your argument were true, we would see relaxed immigration/TSA because of Obama. But, this article leads me to believe that it has gotten worse, not because of Obama, but because of the system. The birth factor might be considered a thank you in a simplistic sense. The Chinese are buying up houses that wouldn't be bought/proping up the market. The National Association of Realtors does happen to be the largest lobby group.

But, the point is, in such an extreme sense as mentioned above. Someone so visibly pregnant that a blind person could figure it out isn't given the slight of day. While a German dude with a guitar is practically thrown in prison. All I am pointing out is the irony/hypocrisy. And since it is so ridiculous and happens all the time there must be an explanation. Do you have one?

dude3··on America knows everything
They are not the elite, they cater to the elite and special interests goals. China has 60 per cent of its $3.5tn foreign currency reserves invested in US assets. A housing program that offers green cards to foreigners who buy $500,000+ houses. How about the money going to US universities from 194,000 Chinese students. The $8.2 billion Chinese buyers spent in the 12 months to March 2013 of $70 billion on real estate. China will biggest economy in the world and we (USA) needs access. Migrant workers expand the population, provide cheap labor, and consumption A.K.A. grow the economy. They also vote.

As a Chinese citizen you can come into the US ridiculously pregnant and have your kid in the US on a tourist visa via a flight and never get hassled. You can walk across the southern border and create a human fence around ICE vans and get a slap on the wrist.

The problem: This guy doesn't serve a political interest so he gets hassled. Face it, this country is backwards and caters only to the elite.

dude3··on We paid over $500M for the Obamacare sites and all we got was this lousy 404
I went to CGI's website. It says offshoring. The javascript on healthcare.gov looks like they hired someone on Odesk.
dude3··on T-Mobile to offer free unlimited international data, texts
Also I can use the SIM in international phones in the US. I have a french phone.
dude3··on T-Mobile to offer free unlimited international data, texts
I switched to t-mobile from Verizon. I have actually been really happy with the service. My plan is unlimited data 5 gigs of 4g data/unlimited 3g and 100 minutes of talk time for $30 a month. Every extra minute is .10 over the 100 minutes. So my plan ends up being $50 a month. But compare that to any other carrier and its a much better price. Also, I like that it's a German company and didn't sell out like Verizon giving 1,000,000+ members phone numbers to the NSA.
dude3··on The Greatest Job In Advertising
Cool. It doesn't look like it actually sends the results. Also you exceeded your mail quota so its not sending any emails.
dude3··on How to Charge $546 for Six Liters of Saltwater
I think there are 2 big factors that always seem to be missing from these investigations. The high costs offsets individuals who don't pay for their healthcare. Keep in mind that the hospital must treat anybody who walks in the door and they frequently do not get reimbursed by the government. Also keep in mind that the solution must be perfect when it physically cannot be. Because if there is a .0001 percent chance of failure, every doctor that treated the patient gets sued, the hospital gets sued for several million, the manufacturers gets sued, the middle man gets sued, heck the receptionists probably gets sued too. Think of the costs of insurance for every party involved. Obstetricians often pay $85,000 to as much as $200,000 for malpractice insurance. That's just the doctor.

Reduce the malpractice payouts and shield doctors like other countries do. Make the government absorb more of the costs for care. The price could probably be cut by 200 to 300 bucks.

Govment justs wants more control over Bank of America. They won't have to pay it all back if the Govment wins. Just provide some special favors like prisiming all accounts.

I posted this code from here on Basecamp: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/6529728/html5-doctype-put...

Answer number one. It came in with the html with the stackoverflow profile pictures and all. I was like crap so I switched to non html formatting. I probably clicked a few times, it kept loading and loading. Basecamp went down right when that happened.

Could have been the problem...

It looks like it actually posts to basecamp servers to do the reformat. Why can't they just do this in javascript?

I am using Basecamp Classic with Firefox.

dude3··on Larry Page "providing free flu shots to all San Francisco bay area kids"
Props and this is a great thing. But it shouldn't erase all the morally bad things Google is actively doing. It's like a Dictator giving candy to the kids for the cameras while still actively oppressing people behind the scenes. There does happen to be a huge FTC case (that will be probably dropped) and a possible DOJ case against Google right now.
dude3··on How Papa John's could have saved $250MM
Gross negligence by lawyers. I will get 1 cent from this lawsuit while lawyers will get 75 million. Folks this is why America is losing its competitiveness. Why not send the money wasted on lawyers to communities through simple arbitration and refund the costs of the texts to the customers. It's not like anyone was severely harmed. Not to mention this frivolous lawsuit costs society millions through court costs etc etc. We reformed healthcare, now its time for frivolous lawsuit reform (wait that will never happen).
