dschep··on Ansible Simply Kicks Ass
The main thing that irks me (last I tried it) is that the pkg repo functionality uses add-apt-repo. This makes it not work on Debian (6 was stable at the time) or with any repo that doesn't have a matching src repo.

edit: docs indicate it's still a problem http://www.ansibleworks.com/docs/modules.html/#apt-repositor...

dschep··on Facebook Android app sends phone number to Facebook servers without consent
Do carriers remove the "Disable" feature in Android 4+ in "Manage Apps?"
dschep··on Firefox 22 released
I did. My old firefox instance must've been lingering around and then the remote behavior made it just launch a new window in that.

The UI looks identical to me. It's supposed to be like this right? http://people.mozilla.com/~shorlander/files/australis-design...
dschep··on iOS 7 looks familiar
Dunno about myko, but every time I use an iOS device it really confuses me. Comparing it to a physical keyboard isn't fair, since on software keyboards shift is stateful. lower/UPPER casing the keyboard is a much larger (very convenient) indicator of that state than the altered shift button.

Barry gave a good talk about this at DCPython on Tuesday.
dschep··on Django: The Easy Form Views Pattern Controversy
Why not just use this:

    form = MyForm(request.POST if request.method == 'POST' else None)
dschep··on The Onion releases fartscroll.js
Hah. Looks like you beat me to it. I made a slightly different version: http://dschep.github.io/GistMarklets/#5547713
dschep··on Twitter Should Shut Me Down
It's probably missing an intermediate cert. Firefox and Chrome for mobile warn about that, but not desktop Chrome (and it seems some versions of IE)
dschep··on Unicorn
Aside from the name crazyness this seems like a very thin layer on top of existing libraries to create a shared API across languages.

Being mainly a Python dev, I see little reason to use it instead of Requests. It has a similar API for the basic verbs but nothing else.

A quick glance at the code indicates to me that it doesn't have alot of the other features requests has (eg: simpler auth, cookies. builtin connection pooling). And worse it will explode on large a large response[1]

dschep··on SF to Paris in 2 Minutes
Given the Northern Lights are visible in the video, I think it's safe to assume it's the Great Circle route.
dschep··on A Memory Comparison of Light Linux Desktops
Odd that this article neglects to mention that LXDE's WM is OpenBox.
dschep··on 5 minute fork
I understand users' need for this, but as a this is your code, why don't you also push it to the gh-pages branch? That would make the exact same thing available at http://reidrac.github.com/canvas-raycasting (and then add a link to your README)
dschep··on The True Cost of Healthcare in the US
> My wife's birth control has a package value of $130/mo.

Wow. My girlfriend's birth control is $9/month, without health insurance (Target's generic Ortho Tri-Cyclen).

dschep··on Copy, a competitor to Dropbox, launches today
Yes it is. I thought the same when I clicked "Install App", but the big button in that popup window downloaded a tarball for linux.
dschep··on Python command line oneliners
> What do people actually use SimpleHTTPServer for?

Smaller files than you need to move around when using a 1 off http server.

For your 1st example and last example, the python builtins have the huge advantage of already being installed on most [linux(mac?)] boxes.

Note, you missed the "l" on the end of link [1]

dschep··on Python Packages and Environments with Conda
I always found managing Python modules using modules to be awkward. Using it to activate entire virtualenvs might work better. Though that's only worth it if you're already deploying a modules environment.

dschep··on Apple Increases iPad with Retina Display to 128GB
What do you use to sync your 100GB+ of stuff across your devices?
dschep··on Apple Increases iPad with Retina Display to 128GB
I guess I'm also kinda marginal too. I don't expect my main device, be it a desktop, laptop or tablet, to be where I store everything. It's way too subject to data loss. I can steam (from personal sources or services) most of the time, and if I need access while radio quiet, 8GB is more than enough to cache a few interesting things locally.
