drum··on How I Got My First 1000 Users in 1 Day
which subreddit? r/technology hasn't been giving me much love
drum··on How I Got My First 1000 Users in 1 Day
the post got 112 upvotes yesterday and stayed on the front page all day. that many upvotes is an indicator of relevant content, not spam.

what would you use ?
drum··on How I Got My First 1000 Users in 1 Day
Yes, you're absolutely right. I was kickin myself all day yesterday because push notifications weren't working. I couldnt figure out why but my guess was it had to do with the provisioning profile. i resubmitted late last night, and requested expedited review. hopefully itll be out in the next few days. either way, thanks for the constructive feedback!

if you believe in your product and think there's a need than why would you consider it spam?
drum··on How I Got My First 1000 Users in 1 Day
there are ways of posting tactfully. i believe in the app thus i think it's useful for those students. i dont continuously post over and over, so far, only once per page. i have students liking and commenting, even friending me telling me they like the app.
drum··on How I Got My First 1000 Users in 1 Day
hah! the post was meant to be mutually beneficial
drum··on How I Got My First 1000 Users in 1 Day
why?
drum··on How I Got My First 1000 Users in 1 Day
i'd say the majority yes. i wish i had better stats on the referrals. i think the facebook groups helped a lot too.
drum··on Show HN: Popcorn Messaging – Anonymously chat with people within 1 mile
yea that thing is ugly as sin
drum··on Show HN: Popcorn Messaging – Anonymously chat with people within 1 mile
turns out you're right. anybody have suggestions on how to fix this?
drum··on Show HN: Popcorn Messaging – Anonymously chat with people within 1 mile
dang, friend reported the same issue. not sure why they're not going.

sorry if it sounded hostile, i appreciated the comment! my point was that the integrity of the app relies on a fixed radius. im not opposed to increasing the fixed radius initially while there arent a lot of users. however expanding the radius according to nearby users makes the location aspect less relevant. if the nearest user is 20 miles away than they should probably use another app.

yep, just two! i just pushed an update that includes push notifications. you might need to log out and back in, but it should show the prompt. from there im coding in a notification for when the area opens
drum··on Show HN: Popcorn Messaging – Anonymously chat with people within 1 mile
yea definitely sounds necessary. im just wondering - lets say you leave the 1 mile area, somebody @ replies you, when you open the app you'll be in a totally new spot and the message will be at the old spot.

1. you're absolutely right. just pushed an update for push notifications and coding in some logic as we speak

2. you get a ribbon for being an explorer (being one of the people to unlock an area)

3. i want to add media , but im scared it might get crowded with a lot of nudes. maybe if we add karma and let users with a certain amount post, it would work

drum··on Show HN: Popcorn Messaging – Anonymously chat with people within 1 mile

drum··on Show HN: Popcorn Messaging – Anonymously chat with people within 1 mile

drum··on Show HN: Popcorn Messaging – Anonymously chat with people within 1 mile

drum··on Show HN: Popcorn Messaging – Anonymously chat with people within 1 mile

drum··on Show HN: Popcorn Messaging – Anonymously chat with people within 1 mile
thanks! one of our biggest goals was to maintain privacy by only requiring a username to sign up.
drum··on Show HN: Popcorn Messaging – Anonymously chat with people within 1 mile
i think you might be right... hadn't thought of that
drum··on Show HN: Popcorn Messaging – Anonymously chat with people within 1 mile
there are a million and one apps that offer the ability to chat with people. if it's a concern people can use one of those
drum··on Show HN: Popcorn Messaging – Anonymously chat with people within 1 mile
i see a huge difference between location based chat and subject based chat.
drum··on Show HN: Popcorn Messaging – Anonymously chat with people within 1 mile
hmm, the 1 mile radius is important to me. psychologically, knowing that the people you're talking to are within walking distance is exciting
drum··on Beliefs that helped us build a $270 million company in 5 years
I liked the article but didn't see any mention of the company name. Also, what do they sell?
drum··on What I've been up to for the past year
pud - been a fan since "death metal office drumming".

i've been looking to putting some of my music on iTunes recently, so really excited about this service. any chance of supporting Pandora?

drum··on The unbundling of Craigslist and Reddit
Reddit has a more defensible position than Craigslist in relation to verticals because of its karma system. Karma carries over from sub-reddit to sub-reddit and people obsess over it. In my opinion, this is the 'drug' that keeps people around.

Craigslist on the other hand has no karma. A good seller or good buyer is completely anonymous. People will post to Craigslist if they can sell just as easily they'll post to another site if they can sell there. Reddit is not the same. A redditor will more readily post to reddit because of the sweet, sweet karma.

drum··on Show HN: Create unlimited one-off Invoices (Built with AngularJS)
Very cool. Sometimes I receive invoices in the mail that give me the option to pay online. However most of the sites require a sign up and account. The smarter sites have a widget that allows you to type in your unique invoice id and pay without signing up.

This has always seemed like a possible opportunity for a SaaS product in my opinion. Essentially you'd let the site generate the invoices using your code. Give them a snippet to put on their site and handle the payment processing. Maybe give them a dashboard to see all their data.

Embeddable Invoices.
