drsintoma··on Larry Page addresses PRISM
I stand corrected
drsintoma··on Larry Page addresses PRISM
> Could you quote/link to Obama's confirmation that Prism exists

I'll give you gizmodo because it has specifically the quotes http://gizmodo.com/president-obamas-prism-response-wont-make...

drsintoma··on Bitbucket passes one million users
> No need to proclaim personal tastes as absolute truths around here.

In all fairness, we all do that a lot.

drsintoma··on Amazon's short URL: http://a.co
I was not aware that 1 character domains where possible until now. I wonder why they are restricted in most main TLDs.

I still fail to understand how can that be important for anyone on a mobile phone
drsintoma··on HN no longer supporting SPDY
I believe it has been Google all along, I guess when you do things at their scale this matters, but indeed I can't see any average dev rushing to support it.
drsintoma··on PyPy 2.0 Released
readability is probably not the right term, but I think he means easy to understand. Doesn't matter how elegant PyPy's code is, it'll surely be more complex than an straight forward interpreter.
drsintoma··on Riak at Braintree
What did you find slow? writes? retrieving by key? map-reduce? From what I've heard erlang map-reduce is much performant than the javascript one.
drsintoma··on Elastic Search - Incorporated
Great news. I discovered ES last year and fell in love with it. Far better than solr in almost every aspect. When I saw how automatically detects nodes, distributes data, recovers from a failed node, etc. all without administration I could not believe it. It's every devops dream.
drsintoma··on Virtualenv to be part of Python 3.3
virtualenv allows you to do that too (virtualenv -p [path to python]). You just need to download the interpreter yourself.
drsintoma··on A social game based on Game of Thrones
If they release some sort of Ultima VII kind of game in the world of GoT this might be the first time I'll give a facebook game a try.
drsintoma··on Facebook Bankers Secretly Cut FB Revenue Estimates In Middle Of IPO Roadshow
They might be cheap, but they are far from easy, I would actually qualify it as the most painful purchase process I've ever experienced (my former employer had domains there). And my political beliefs had nothing to do here, technological beliefs at most.

Anyway, Godaddy is where I would expect my father to buy a domain, not someone at HN. Hence my surprise. But turns out the op didn't register the domain himself, he was just pointing it out.

godaddy? really?
drsintoma··on Ask HN: Countries with sane governments that won't mess with my Internet use?
The press release is: https://www.ige.ch/fileadmin/user_upload/Juristische_Infos/e...
drsintoma··on 37signals lists web designer directory Sortfolio on Flippa
could you give us the URL?
drsintoma··on I only know PHP. How do I write a Web application in Python?
plus you can not just mix html and python code, which might not be a good practice, but is incredibly useful for something quick and dirty.
drsintoma··on Facebook's numbers
Well, it takes 2 users to make 1 friendship, so it would be half of that. Plus that's the number of daily users, the total number of users is like double. So the average friends per user must be around 65.
