The world has changed a lot and if the government of the day feels it needs to alter a $90 billion purchase (which was initially $40 billion by the way before cost overruns) to better protect their citizens then it is their right as elected officials.
Also don't focus on the PR sideshow of the submarines, this is about the alliance itself.
That’s like saying the Cook maybe fat and morbidly obese but look at how efficiently he consumes such a large number of calories every day.
I think maybe some of the kneeling and other political / social virtue signalling by sporting codes are having an effect too.
I know I am fed up. The same ideology is broadcast at work, on the news, on art/film/theatre/books, social media and now sports. I feel like the protagonist in "A Clockwork Orange" with my eyelids stapled open and being force fed a mind virus.
How did HR get so much power? Most of them are barely out of University and at least at my org are a homogenous group of white women.
So basically shift the cognitive burden on to your coworkers? And what if they are also using copilot hoping that you will sanity check it’s output for them? Tit for tat prisoner’s dilemma and no one even realises they are playing the game..
Companies, especially companies in a state of massive flux like a fast growing startup, have no fixed traits like trustworthiness. It depends on the leadership team at the moment, pressures from external stakeholders, how bonuses and other incentive structures are designed.
I can tell you from personal experience that you can start out with the best intentions but sooner or later the power dynamics will change and then suddenly "Don't be evil" is just a joke meme.
I hope they are heading in a new aesthetic direction with Windows 11.
Calm down, Satan
The article clearly states it only starts tracking when the employee enters a specific geo-fence. In a Covid world with remote collaboration between teams something like this sounds perfectly reasonable.
How else would a company know for certain that the employee who was supposed to clean a client premise actually went there?
So the cost will be minimal and further reduced by the bulk volume that the manufacturer would purchase from the telco. Like how Amazon Kindle comes with a free 3G connection to download your books and upload your reading habits.
Sure in broad strokes you are probably right that brand awareness has ROI positive in the long term. But then why would you buy targeted advertising vs a giant billboard on the main road?
Why don't you start with opening an issue on their Github first? And maybe contribute the code yourself since you feel so strongly about it.
And then you seem to go all in and level the same baseless accusation about everyone(?) on this planet. That is pretty egotistical don't you think? Perhaps you should try for some humility and perspective before you start demanding that everyone should switch to your values and distorted ethics.
The meme that springs to mind is Cartman screaming "RESPECT MAH AUTHORITIE"
I remember being at a product design meeting when Windows RT was about to be released and every feature that we wanted to bring over from our flagship x86 software, our tech lead kept repeatedly saying "no we can't do that. The API does not allow it". Finally we said fk it, let's come back to this in a year or two after Microsoft gets their act together. And we never did.
