Just like you say "we can use Android" why can't we say "you can just stay on the app store"?

Just like you say "we can use Android" why can't we say "you can just stay on the app store"?
Epic caused their own pain here, sure but What other way can we actually get a semi open platform that we're not being taxed on? Why can't we as users and developers have options on iOS? I think that if an operating system allows third party apps they should be _legally_ required to allow other app stores, sideloading of programs without penalty for doing so, or both. That goes for any platform, developed at any time by anyone.
I have been completely at a loss for anyone defending Apple while hoping that Epic loses their fight. The first makes sense but the second is absolutely baffling.
Still exploring.
On an unrelated note, how did this link get onto the front page with only 3 points? How does the ratings thing work here?
One quick example: Patreon vs Sargon or Patreon vs artists that produce works with nudity. In these cases, things users were banned for did not happen directly on their platform and weren't even mentioned on their platform. I list them because they're easy to google but there are others.
Do you consider those situations to be something other than censorship?
The Ghost CEO should have taken the higher road and there's no excuse for expunging your site but you were definitely being a dick first. I won't be using Ghost and I would try to avoid having you as a customer as well.
On a more philosophical note, I've wondered if there are some outstanding math or even societal problems that could've been solved already if humans had the capability of holding onto 13 or 15 more things at a time rather than just 7ish. It always feels like we're going to be limited in some way with regards to that if the problem is incapable of being broken down or collapsed.
Now that the swing has been so great in one direction more people will vote and more people will care. I don't like it but that's how it's working. People who are tired and apathetic lack the impetus to enact meaningful change.
That's not paranoia btw, believing otherwise would be incredibly naive. So no, I am not upset and I don't think I should be upset. I think you are the one with unrealistic expectations. If it's on the internet it is permanent, gdpr be damned.
I didn't know this. Thanks.
>Safari appears to support IndexedDB
This is also news to me and makes me pretty happy.
>Safari for iOS does support extensions
This really makes me wonder how they handle the UI. I'll check it out.
No blocking requests.
"Unlimited" storage (which is necessary for most non-trivial extensions) is actually limited to 10MB.
You're stuck in Apple's app store which is equally as draconian as Chrome's and Firefox's but now you have to pay $99/year.
No IndexedDB.
The extensions aren't usable on mobile.
I care little for Safari's users if I have to deal with all of this.
1. Arraymancer https://github.com/mratsim/Arraymancer
2. The new version of the garbage collector understands move semantics to optimize its reference counting so unlike Rust where you have to deal with it yourself Nim will handle it for you at the expense of a reasonable amount of memory. https://youtu.be/yA32Wxl59wo?t=855 Watch the whole video for more context if you care.
I think it's a really nice language, too many pragmas but still really nice.
