downWidOutaFite··on Releasing my tools under the MIT License was probably a mistake (2023)
I hate that people think they can control the definitions of "free" and "open" . I don't care about these biased propaganda definitions. If you want to promote your definition use a branded trademarkable name, don't try to steal our shared use of common words.

Doesn't look flat to me.

Edit: Here[0] I highlighted a groove in the bushes moving with perfect perspective

Yep, since at least World of Warcraft millions of people have already "opted out of life" to live in game worlds.

The thing that "The Matrix" style plots get wrong is that the machines don't need to coerce us into their virtual prisons, we will submit willingly.

But then you're stuck playing in the model owner's playground and if you're too successful they can yank the rug from under you and steal your business any time they want.
downWidOutaFite··on Developers revolt over Apple's new app store rules
So Android is the best thing that happened to the iPhone but the worst thing that happened to developers and users.
downWidOutaFite··on "Accelerationism" is an overdue corrective to years of gloom
I guess but its similar how diplomqcy and international agreements need to be perfect forever to prevent nuclear war but so far it has worked and its worth it to keep trying.
downWidOutaFite··on Consumption of 100% Fruit Juice and Body Weight in Children and Adults
Google says a cup is 3 apples. Doesn't seems too excessive.
downWidOutaFite··on Consumption of 100% Fruit Juice and Body Weight in Children and Adults
Then why is eating fruit healthy?
downWidOutaFite··on Consumption of 100% Fruit Juice and Body Weight in Children and Adults
What's weird is that eating the fruit is healthy. Something about the fiber cancels out the effects of the sugar. I've never seen a good explanation for the mechanism of how that works.

There is no philosophy, it's just partisan politics. Some examples,

They are supposedly "originalist" except in their 2nd amendment rulings they ignore "A well regulated Militia" because guns is a Republican religion.

In banning Biden's student relief they ignored the text of the law and legislated from the bench just saying that it was unfair because the size was too "significant". Activism.

Last year they invented out of thin air the "major questions doctrine" to override the Clean Air Act and help polluters. Activism.

In 2022, without citing any principle, they said OSHA couldn't protect workers from covid. Activism.

When they gutted the Voting Rights Act they invented an "equal dignity of the states" doctrine. Activism.

To conservatives judicial activism is only a problem when liberals do it.

downWidOutaFite··on FCC rules AI-generated voices in robocalls illegal
Their politics comes first the "judicial philosophy" is fake and is bent to fit the political outcome they want.
downWidOutaFite··on FCC rules AI-generated voices in robocalls illegal
They have been hunting for cases to pursue their political agenda. It's probably the most activist court we've ever had. What is your definition of activist?

PG&E is charging you to pay for wildfire lawsuits and to bury power lines so that people can keep building cities in forests.
downWidOutaFite··on The low fertility trap: An analysis of the great worldwide baby bust
How is it not racist to think of shifting racial demographics as the end of civilization? We are a proud nation of immigrants. America is an idea not an ethnicity.
downWidOutaFite··on The low fertility trap: An analysis of the great worldwide baby bust
We are different than those other countries. We are a nation of immigrants. It is one of the things that makes us great. Those that want to prevent migration from "shithole countries" are anti American.
downWidOutaFite··on What happened with the Web Monetization API?
That was the reason for the fork of Bitcoin Cash, and indeed BCH blocks are bigger and fees are much smaller. But BTC is still inexplicably way more popular.

downWidOutaFite··on What the The end of 0% interest rates means for software engineers
The ZIRP thing makes no sense, very few tech companies were funded by loans besides a bit of convertible notes here and there. Funding for small to medium companies was from VC and acquisitions, bigger tech was funded by stock appreciation and massive profits.

That's one of the reasons I don't buy Nike and I cover up Apple logos with stickers (which is easier ever since they stopped putting a damn backing light on their laptop logos). I'm not going to advertise for you for free.
downWidOutaFite··on Norwegian youth win climate court case against the Norwegian State
Trying to capture carbon out of the air makes zero sense besides as anti climate change propaganda. Why wouldn't you capture the carbon at the source of the emission where it is much more concentrated? I'll tell you why, because then the cost is born by the emitter but they'd rather shift that cost onto society as a whole.
downWidOutaFite··on Norwegian youth win climate court case against the Norwegian State
Everything is fundamentally physics.
downWidOutaFite··on Norwegian youth win climate court case against the Norwegian State
Natur og Ungdom is a youth group so I don't know why you say youth aren't involved.
downWidOutaFite··on Get Out of Jail Cards, 2
Bosses is obviously not a perfect analogy. But the reason we pay for their services is not to create good jobs, it is to get good schools and police departments. We should be focused on getting the best outcomes for our tax dollars. The best outcomes would generally be produced by a happy workforce, so I'm not saying worker needs should be ignored. But taxpayer and employee interests are not perfectly aligned, employees will always be trying to maximize pay and reduce hours. Giving workers too much power moves us away from what should be our goals of providing a great education in a safe community.
downWidOutaFite··on Get Out of Jail Cards, 2
I don't get how people on both political sides are often split on supporting teachers unions vs police unions. Be consistent! Whatever problems you think the union you don't like has, the other union has similar issues. I say get rid of both of them, bosses don't like unions for a reason and we're supposed to be their bosses.
