Ha My university (University of Florida) doesn't even keep it's graduation records. They have an error in my 30 year old graduation records but it has been impossible to fix because they don't maintain the records anymore, at some point they outsourced it to a 3rd party who is almost impossible to contact.
I read this article as intended for an HR or management audience whose job is to always be the professional in the room since your voice is interpreted as the company's voice.
Why bring up Russia when we have the Chinese example? History shows that China has captured huge industries by using heavy-handed government regulation
I had been considering applying but got turned off by gary tan's, and the rest of vc-dom's, rude aggressive politics. Luckily my startup is starting to gain traction, hopefully that will make it easier to find investors that don't turn me off.
I hate that robot warfare continues to advance as if scifi hasn't been warning of the dangers to humanity forever. Everybody is just full ahead as if it'll all workout fine. I consider it one of Obama's major failures, USA was a few years ahead in drone tech so Obama went trigger happy blowing up "terrorists" all over the middle east instead of putting together a UN coalition to come up with a weapons treaty to slow down the spread. The short-term war is always seen as the top priority instead of the long term consequences. I'm still amazed at the gift to humanity that was the coalition building and foresight of the post-ww2 years during which these kind of things were possible, and which we currently seem determined to squander.
With tech employees having lost so much negotiating power over the last couple years it has emboldened tech titans like Musk, Andreesen, Sacks, Thiel, YC's blocker in chief, etc. to loudly use their money and power to crush anyone to their left. Inequality at these levels is a huge threat to Democracy.
The law that would have prevented this breach would be to make it illegal for telcos to sell customer data. The reason AT&T was feeding ALL the data to Snowflake was to sell their customer's location and social graph to marketers. It is unconscionable to me that this in not currently the law.
That's the appropriate patriotic response that you'd hope all Americans would give, especially those who have sworn to defend the constitution. But what I've come to realize is that a lot of Americans somehow see it as their patriotic duty to destroy the Federal government, and will support anything that will undermine it, including breaking the rule of law and a scorched earth attack on "liberals" that wish to uphold our form of government. This is the legacy of the Confederate grievance that is still very much alive today.
We were doomed when Republicans decided that impeachment was a partisan tool and could not be used against Trump. They broke the system by abandoning their constitutional duties so we are now looking into the abyss.
The ruling is extremely wishy washy about what is official vs unofficial, and keeps saying that it is very hard to determine, and even prohibits prosecutors from using certain legal tactics to determine if something is official or unofficial.
Since the rise of the web, and tv and movies before it, regional language divergence is decreasing instead of increasing as it did in the past. Future English will be more globally unified but with more online text chatting influences.
Greece should have left the EU when the price of membership was revealed to be a generation of ruthless recession and exploitation. Somehow the german bankers convinced them it was worth it even though grexit would've been much more expensive to them then loan forgiveness. I don't see what Greece got out of EU membership other than a brain drain as their ambitious youth is forced to leave their country.
