dopidop··on Judge: Citibank isn't entitled to $500M it sent to various creditors last August
The scalability argument of the solution is becoming less relevant with readily available cloud architecture, no?

The school cannot handle the requirements or implementation. Of course, but maybe a smaller, more focused provider than oracle can?

And yes, you have to be at peace with your data being god-know-where.

Was the implementation worth it? Did it works?

From what your describing it seams that what was missing was an API allowing browsers to get back the uploaded files?

I work on a large financial transaction system. A dumb backbone for bank the same size as citi.

This UI is pretty good ! Haha. No seriously today we had a one hour conversation on what happen when a user cancel a trade twice. I don’t think we’re gonna find a elegant solution within the contraints of the clusterfuck of sub-system we maintaining. Kinda disheartening.

dopidop··on OpenStreetMap proven to be a highly accurate map in top US cities
I know that I dearly miss the French IGN. It’s close to impossible to find decent paper map for hiking in the US.
dopidop··on I’ve tracked every piece of clothing I’ve worn for three years
Very good point. Pre Covid I was biking to work.
dopidop··on I’ve tracked every piece of clothing I’ve worn for three years
I had the same reaction. Some t-shirt in my wardrobe have past the 5 year mark. I switched country around that time, so it’s easy to tell.

They have been demoted of course. But the wear is fine as long as I don’t attend a wedding or a job interview.

dopidop··on Coronavirus may mean automation is coming sooner than we thought
Draconian labors laws? Oh dear. I live in the US since 6 years. I never felt like I never had a proper contracts. All at-will stuff with no long terms commitments on either ways.

Try France if you want to see actual labors laws.

dopidop··on France rules Google must pay news firms for content
They should close google news then.
dopidop··on France rules Google must pay news firms for content
Google news main and only feature is to crawl existing news website.

Those news agency are actually putting natural language together and conducting journalist work.

Until google can auto-generate NYT/Guardian/Le monde/El pays... The leech is google; not the news.

dopidop··on France rules Google must pay news firms for content
It’s not the ad, it’s your profile. Even if you surf anonymously. Anonymous data will be aggregated. Not as cool as a logged-in user, but okay.
dopidop··on France rules Google must pay news firms for content
Google profit from listing those news site and presenting them in a synthetic way because it’s the whole feature of google news.

Google news is part of the google user experience, that will retains users in time and agregate a detailed profil of the user.

That detail profile include the news search habit.

It does not sound very popular here but I see the leech as being the search engine here, not the company actually producing the content in naturals language and dispatching journalists to work on it.
