Energy, pain, maybe even expected value of death (e.g., take energy-intensive and possibly painful evasive action from a predator) might be dimensions to take into consideration.
That would fall in the "useful painful pain" category, I guess.
I can't say I've read it cover-to-cover, but it really is an excellent, approachable electronics resource for enthusiasts and professionals alike.
Reading secondary literature gave me some context about Pirsig's own mental illness and his struggles overcoming his son's death, but in the end I was still disappointed.
Edit: Also, it's not about motorcycles at all. If you are interested in motorcycle travel, read Ted Simon's Jupiter's Travels instead.

My main issue were libraries, even though making footprints is easy enough. Is there a way to import the KiCAD standard library with footprints and symbols here? It would be amazing to have a large, CAD-agnostic component library!
I love the idea, but given that it took decades to scale traditional wind turbines which are much simpler by design to powers in the range of MW, I can't see this happening.
These systems are insanely complex, you need tethers, winches, a drone that flies 24/7 and can safely and autonomously start and land in many weather conditions. It also looks like google gave up on Makani, which had airborne generators.
I am curious about the latency of this setup, having used jack and Ardour in the past for recording. I would be very surprised if this rig yields a latency below a couple dozen milliseconds, which, at least for me, is absolutely unbearable when playing guitar.
Even with a dedicated DSP, effects processors in the early 2000's (like the otherwise excellent Vox TonelabSE) greatly struggled with latency issues.
This. I can't believe how much time is lost in such discussions. To paraphrase cjbprime from 11 months ago [1], "nobody likes what the code-formatter does to their code, but everybody likes what it does to their coworker's."
Hopefully this won't discourage governments from taking appropriate action once a more lethal pandemic comes.

I worked on a project that had an Silicon Labs EFR32, and while the hardware may have been great, their proprietary, closed-source "Radio Abstraction Interface Layer" was hard to use and badly documented.
The Eclipse based IDE that you HAD to use to configure the radio front-end (the EFR32 is a system-on-chip with an RF front-end and an ARM Cortex M4F core) is a GUI, and porting or comparing radio configs between different chip generations, and even different versions of the IDE, is a nightmare.
The Java IDE crashes regularly, debugging does not really work etc., so it really is worth taking some time to evaluate the whole package around an RF IC.
Wow. That's some serious dedication. What an excellent multi-disciplinary project, congratulations!

If you can't write down Freygish scale, including the dominant fifth, you needn't even dare thinking about playing there.
In Hanoi, many houses have a small greenhouse-like glass structure on the roof. The greenhouse has a chimney. When the sun is shining, it gets hot in the greenhouse and the hot air escapes through the chimney. A hatch through the roof into the greenhouse draws new air from below, essentially creating a passive, sun-powere air-flow through the whole house, bottom-to-top. Usually some windows on ground level are left open to let air in.
Then you will love the Peachy Printer fiasco:
Any sources? What is an OFFSET WEEK? Why do you call it "GPS week number rollover" when it is affecting LTE chipsets?
