donniezazen··on Facebook Gets it. Google Doesn’t.

No one uses Google+, but the whole Internet has an account there.
Author can't be so ignorant and supremely egotistical.

A friend of mine uses Google+ to post pictures. He has over a million views and an audience that he wouldn't have otherwise.

donniezazen··on How slow is Python really? Or how fast is your language?
As a new programmer with only Java(Android) under my arms, I find the whole concept of "your language" mind boggling.
donniezazen··on Skype group video calling becomes free
That's is a Windows thing. I think you could uninstall Skype plugin.
donniezazen··on IFTTT launches on Android with deeper integration than on iOS
These new generation of applications with deeper integration on Android have become my favorite feature of Android. Facebook's chat head, LastPass's Fill into the Apps, etc. completely changes how you use your smart devices.
donniezazen··on Taking e-mail back, part 4: The finale, with webmail and everything after
I feel like any data that is being transferred over internet has a real possibility of being surveilled on. Amazon AWS or any other storage provider has to comply with any three letter agency. Calling this secure sound like calling random numbers as random. What do you guys think?
donniezazen··on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS
I have been using Linux for a solid few years. I stopped using Ubuntu because I wanted more control and I like new technology. Now I am learning Android Development. I have less time, patience and require stability. I am thinking about switching from Fedora 20 to Kubuntu 14.04 for sake of stability.

Will it save me time and headache, it involves in getting things fixed on cutting-edge Linux and getting them to work, if I switch to Kubuntu?

donniezazen··on Brendan Eich
You must be really dumb to have contributed a 1000 bucks for an anti-humane law and not be aware of it.
donniezazen··on Learn C and build your own Lisp
I am new to programming. What is it so special about Lisp that I keep hearing about it in Hacker's News (often in Machine Learning and from old programmers)?
donniezazen··on Apps with millions of Google Play downloads covertly mine cryptocurrency
No wonder Songs is an app to download pirated Bollywood songs.
donniezazen··on Gnome 3.12 Released
Instructions to split a window in KDE.

   click split
donniezazen··on Gnome 3.12 Released
After having switched to KDE from Gnome, I can say Gnome Shell does hurt productivity. One example would be, Nautilus can't be split into two panes. When I have to move a bunch of files from one folder to another, on Gnome it would require right-click copy and then open the folder and then right-click-paste. Whereas on KDE, it merely means drag and drop. It will even ask you, if you want to move or copy, that could come handy at times. Usually, I have a working folder open in split and a new tab if I want a full folder.

Secondly, KDE comes with a full suite of applications [1] that all follow same philosophy of user choice than minimalism. Gnome severely lacks that kind of application database. For example, there are not many applications, including big names like Banshee, that use Gnome's message tray. Some applications use split menu and some don't. Overall, it's not a great user experience. Not to mention there is no way in Gnome to entertain Dropbox icon which is specifically designed for system tray.

donniezazen··on Building and modifying Linux Kernel with Visual Studio
"It's freedom in negative dimension."
donniezazen··on GNU/Linux Distribution Timeline
I think 10 different distributions are fine. 1000 distributions are not. Fedora is good for Gnome, Ubuntu is good for Unity, OpenSUSE is good for KDE, Arch Linux is good for minimalism, etc. All these distributions are good at something radically different which is fine but I want to use a different theme, let's create a new distribution or some driver didn't work on my system, so I am going to create a new distribution is hardly a valid reason.

For me freedom means two things (1) contribute to up stream project (2) write free software.

donniezazen··on GNU/Linux Distribution Timeline
Yeah, I don't know if Mac or Windows have 1000 forks. Do they?
donniezazen··on GNU/Linux Distribution Timeline
Such a waste of time and manpower creating all these forks. I wish folks spent time scratching their itch by writing great software for Linux instead of trying to reinvent the same wheel. And yet folks will continue to fork platform trying to solve problem that doesn't exist.
donniezazen··on Why don’t designers take Android seriously?
Glad you said that. Apple prepositioned itself as a design oriented company something that designers associate with. Something being easy is highly subjective.
donniezazen··on Disconnect: open source extension makes the web more private, secure, faster
It's the dots that you leave around the internet that is the biggest problem in personal privacy.
donniezazen··on Digital Ocean’s journey from TechStars reject to cloud-hosting darling
That seems so now a days. Folks like easy things. Plain and simple.
donniezazen··on Tamil Nadu state departments asked to switch over to open source software
I think LibreOffice UI falls into acceptable category. It might not be the most polished UI but it gets the work done efficiently. There is not much difference in productivity in two acceptable UIs.

A UI can be thought of being easy-to-use with the frequency of usage. I have been using Linux for many years. Now, whenever I use Windows the only thought in my mind is how can someone use a software so clumsy.

donniezazen··on College Notebook by Isaac Newton
I take extensive amounts of notes to keep myself awake and focused. I rarely go back and refer to them.
donniezazen··on Tamil Nadu state departments asked to switch over to open source software
I don't think Microsoft Office is any better than LibreOffice for general users. Most of the Indian government officials are tad computer illiterate. They would not know what they use.
donniezazen··on Leslie Lamport awarded Turing Award
I know what you are talking about. More is always better than less. That's why I stick to WordPress.
donniezazen··on JDK 8 Release Notes
Why do they still use JDK 6 and not the current default version?
donniezazen··on JDK 8 Release Notes
Why does Android requires obsolete JDK 6 and not the latest stable version? Android should probably be the biggest project that uses JVM.
donniezazen··on Before you Dual Boot – MS, OEMs and Linux
Well! Growing popularity of Linux based consumer products and entry of Steam, GOG, Cryengine, etc. on traditional Linux systems must be an indicator of something. Let's leave at that.
donniezazen··on Leslie Lamport awarded Turing Award
There is something intriguing about these old timers' plain text html websites. One of these days I am going to have to drop WordPress.
donniezazen··on Just what we need. Another package manager.
That is what I prefer. I won't allow another package manager to run under sudo. Either it must be installed in user home or be installed system wide via my linux box's package manager.
donniezazen··on Before you Dual Boot – MS, OEMs and Linux
Windows has its share of problems[1].

donniezazen··on Before you Dual Boot – MS, OEMs and Linux
Yeah, it doesn't work for me, so it must not work for everyone.
donniezazen··on Before you Dual Boot – MS, OEMs and Linux
Generalization that Windows has better "power management, suspend/resume and hibernate and driver support" is grossly wrong. Noob friendly Linux distributions like Ubuntu provide excellent support of all the points you mention.
