dnnddidiej··on I believe there are entire companies right now under AI psychosis
More like how do you know when your charming partner is a catfish. Maybe 2 years and when you are living in a friends basement.
dnnddidiej··on I believe there are entire companies right now under AI psychosis
I like how you haven't wagered which exquisite architectures and standards. I am sure we will all agree on what they are and follow them the same way :)
dnnddidiej··on I believe there are entire companies right now under AI psychosis
Cynic!
dnnddidiej··on I believe there are entire companies right now under AI psychosis
Yeah how do they know the fix doesn't have a bug and it will just keep deploying mire crap. What is the feedback loop, the customer?
dnnddidiej··on XS Programming Language
Very cool. Since you have memoize ... does that mean all values are immutable?

Like the built in decorators. I think language design based on what people want to achieve rather than creating the most generic zoo of primitives is underexplored. So this is good.

dnnddidiej··on Ask HN: What's the hardest part of building a SaaS that users keep paying for?
I wish I knew and could help! Good luck! Well done for the early ambition.
dnnddidiej··on The conflation of money and things
That popups has an annoying article. I think.
dnnddidiej··on Claude AI recovers an 11 yrs old BTC wallet holding 400k USD
Guessing it gave JS to drop into console.
dnnddidiej··on Claude AI recovers an 11 yrs old BTC wallet holding 400k USD
Lol great intersection of AI, Crypto and blind luck.

By getting stoned he was forced to hold until AI could solve his problem at a crypto high.

dnnddidiej··on A message from President Kornbluth about funding and the talent pipeline
This beating aroud the bush doesn't help:

> We’ve already seen clear signs that policy changes affecting international students and scholars are discouraging extremely talented individuals from applying to join our community.

Whose policy? What policy?

dnnddidiej··on The US is winning the AI race where it matters most: commercialization
How is this one a submarine? It is not even PR.
dnnddidiej··on Extraordinary Ordinals
This is beautiful art
dnnddidiej··on Claude for Small Business
Lovable?
dnnddidiej··on The Emacsification of Software
So cool to see a dang comment comment. Rather than moderating comment.
dnnddidiej··on How can Apple deal with the memory shortage?
Got a shitty PC with 32gb ddr5 now the ram alone is almost worth as much as the purchase price of it all. It is playing up.. normally I'd return it to Amazon but...
dnnddidiej··on Ask HN: If HTML supersedes Markdown fr AI, Will it be versatile enough for devs?
So you write a HTML Readme? Markdown is what I write 99% of the time. Unless I am in a rich editor and HTML behind the scenes.

HTML is a communication layer. Hardly anyone is writing it directly. Using React etc. or whatever or even LLM.

dnnddidiej··on Why senior developers fail to communicate their expertise
Im not even confident I can mentor a junior well. Part of that is probably mentoring is a seperate skill. (Like management is) and so you need to get good at that plus research the "many worlds" of their future paths rather than share your war stories. If that makes sense.
dnnddidiej··on Why senior developers fail to communicate their expertise
This is an excellent article. Thought provoking and Ill rememner the 2 loops forever on.

> What if we had one system just for speed?

Like a beta? It would take incredible discipline from the business and customers not to consider that production software and demand 99.99 uptime and bug free.

dnnddidiej··on A.I. note takers are making lawyers nervous
The point is it would be usable against you, but at the point you are wiretapped and can be used in court all bets are off you are probably in too much trouble may as well tell the joke!
dnnddidiej··on Local AI needs to be the norm
Except you will want the frontier to compete. Local models are useful but you will always need $$$ to be in the same order of magintude as frontier. And also $$$ for same token speed.

The question is would you choose to save $10 a day if it causes your inference to slow down 10x and waste 2 hours a day waiting on stuff.

dnnddidiej··on The One Dollar Counterfeiter
If I were a shopkeeper I might check $20 notes handed to me. To some extent.
dnnddidiej··on Ask HN: Before Open Source took over the server, what was the discourse like?
As a .NET guy there wasn't much discourse. We used SQL Server and collected a pay cheque. Open source wasn't as big. I heard of MySQL and Postgres but thought they were cheap shared hosting thing and university academic thing respectively.
dnnddidiej··on The One Dollar Counterfeiter
That guy East Africas
dnnddidiej··on The One Dollar Counterfeiter
If $1 is $19 I am suprised more people didnt check that their $1 notes are legit back then. Story makes it sound like $1 was chump change.
dnnddidiej··on Getting arrested in Japan
Tl;dr: you are in effectively the hole (but stricter) for anything between 1 day and months, without charges. It is torture. As in actual torture.

Fact check... anyone can confirm this treatment is standard in Japan?

dnnddidiej··on AWS North Virginia data center outage – resolved
Dual writes. You'd need to have the same conversation with both to keep them in sync.
dnnddidiej··on AWS North Virginia data center outage – resolved
I remember someone said friends dont let friends use USE1 last time and I thought that as the slack message saying USE1 and all the stuff we deploy there has gone to shit.
dnnddidiej··on David Attenborough's 100th Birthday
Narrator: He wasn't always a narrator.
dnnddidiej··on What causes lightning? The answer keeps getting more interesting
It is cool that something so seemingly ordinary is extraordinary.
dnnddidiej··on AI is breaking two vulnerability cultures
I guess. It is like a writer letting someone else print the books, maybe?
