Unfortunately this is one of those American traditions we love to hate but are for the moment powerless to change. Your significant other may not care but societal pressure and expectation is hard to get around. She has a mother, sisters, friends etc. It is the same reason an expensive handbag makes absolutely no sense to a man but matters so much to a woman. It is confounding.

Thank you for this comment. I am both a programmer and guitar player. Theoretical knowledge seems to be out of fashion these days and I'm rediscovering it again after taking it for granted. Hard to describe how much it adds to ones repertoire

Yes! ng2 + typescript is phenomenal, and makes ionic2 a pleasure to use. What you get for the amount of time you put in is much more satisfying than with ng1. Fun!

I read a similar article right before I married my wife. Trust me when I say it's a losing battle trying to rationalize how we've been duped by marketing. You'd have to convince both her and her social network... Good luck with that.
