Apply it to just the key stuff then.
dkjaudyeqooe··on MongoDB acquires Voyage AI
This is maybe the biggest reason to have a RDBMS, enforcing discipline to keep your data clean. Ultimately this trumps almost everything else.

Is this text file static? If not, does all grepping stop when you're updating the file?

Why would they be here? They use Oracle.

But mainly because management hasn't worked out how to cancel their licenses without breaking their budgets.

dkjaudyeqooe··on MongoDB acquires Voyage AI
"Should be" how?

SQLite is a lean and clean tool, it's very much a candidate for being inserted into all manner of contexts.

What beggars belief is the overly complicated, inefficient, rats nests of trendy software that developers actually string together to get things done, totally unaware of how they are implemented or meant to work.

By comparison using SQLite outside of its "blessed (by who?) use cases" is very practical.

Trump and Putin can have their own and call it something trendy like "My Opia".

dkjaudyeqooe··on Cloudflare takes legal action over LaLiga's "disproportionate blocking efforts"
> Everyone else other than you get to enjoy a snappy and fast loading site.

Why can't everyone else suffer? What makes me the loser besides prejudice?

I'm hardly unique, there are many people who share an external IP.

Maybe the point is don't screw one half of the population to benefit the other half.

dkjaudyeqooe··on Cloudflare takes legal action over LaLiga's "disproportionate blocking efforts"
You covered everything except the most important case: Cloudflare blocks innocent people trying to access websites protected by Cloudflare.

For instance they block me because I'm behind CGNAT and because some of the millions of machines also behind that CGNAT once did something unsavory.

I'm not a customer of Cloudflare, so I have no one to call, I just get blocked from endless websites or have to click a checkbox, solve puzzles and suffer other indignities because I'm using a reputable and popular ISP in my country.

Fuck Cloudflare. They're accelerating the utter shittiness of the web because of their indiscriminate solutions to web malfeasance, which are worse than the disease.

dkjaudyeqooe··on OpenAI Researchers Find That AI Is Unable to Solve Most Coding Problems
If the goal is to get something to run correctly roughly once with some known data or input, then that's fine. Actual software development aims to run under 100% of circumstances, and LLMs are essentially cargo culting the development process and entrusting an automation that is unreliable to do mundane tasks. Sadly the quality of software will keep going down, perhaps even faster.
dkjaudyeqooe··on BYD has already produced its first solid-state cells
With the fanciful claims about the imminent arrival of AGI, that seems unlikely. It'll probably crash and burn in a year or two as top line performance suffers.

The good news is that low spec performance is a rich area for improvement and it's progressing very nicely.

dkjaudyeqooe··on BYD has already produced its first solid-state cells
By driving between 200 and 300km/h which is common enough on the autobahn. It's the most important factor and he doesn't mention it. EVs lose efficiency as speed increases due to wind resistance.

dkjaudyeqooe··on Meta claims torrenting pirated books isn't illegal without proof of seeding
In the Netherlands, for individuals at least, it's legal to download copyrighted works, but not to upload or seed. I don't know if that applies to corporations.

It's the very definition of a non-sequitur.

You're loading up my comment with things I did not say or reference.

Just look at the plain meaning of the words I'm using. They refer to what comes out of his mouth, that's all.

I don't know why you're putting the 'Marxist hive mind' in charge, maybe some academics across the political spectrum instead?

I think maybe the point is to shame those using aggressive tax strategies. You can always exploit the law as written, if you put enough money behind the endeavor. It's impossible to write a law that is bullet proof.

That's a non-sequitur.

> Elon is clearly capable but I get it, people disagree with his politics so they pretend he not credible at all?

Exactly wrong, and I'd turn that around and say that people tolerate his nonsense because they agree with his politics, and defend him beyond reason.

All I'm saying is people should be judged on what they say and do and the relationship between the two. They shouldn't be excused from lying, abuse and dissembling just because they're successful in business.

dkjaudyeqooe··on DOGE Said It Cut $232M from Social Security. It Was Only About Half a Mil
Seriously, after decades of nonsense coming out of Musk's mouth (he's the 'pedo guy' guy after all), why isn't the default to assume Musk is not credible or constructive?

Would need category tags for each post, but actually would be an awesome feature applicable to all sorts of posts.

For instance AI speculation threads are really, really tiresome. It's easy to get tricked into reading such threads because the discussion is often off topic to the linked article.

dkjaudyeqooe··on Treasury agrees to block DOGE's access to personal taxpayer data at IRS
Actually the kernel of a good idea. Over a certain level of wealth taxpayers have a right to know why you're denying them millions of dollars of income, so your tax returns are a legitimate public interest.

Basically if you're paying close to the "full amount" of your tax rate in say the $5 million dollar range, then no disclosure required. If you're substantially under that your deductions should be public.

dkjaudyeqooe··on Treasury agrees to block DOGE's access to personal taxpayer data at IRS
Thank goodness for small mercies.

I wasn't looking forward to Musk posting my tax return on a twatter rant.

dkjaudyeqooe··on DOGE puts $1 spending limit on government employee credit cards
Again, wrong end of the pipeline. It's just more busywork to do. The staff is already responsible for what is spent on the card and to match it to approved spending and their budget.

Just building in more red tape and expense to a system.

dkjaudyeqooe··on DOGE puts $1 spending limit on government employee credit cards
Yes I'm sure your business spends roughly $10 trillion a year so the federal government should use your system because it scales so well.
dkjaudyeqooe··on DOGE puts $1 spending limit on government employee credit cards
You don't seem to get that the money is spent when Congress allocates it, not when a public servant puts it on a credit card. You want accountability talk to your representative.

This will just make government less efficient as it goes through extra steps to request invoices and post payment, or perhaps even spending petty cash.

It will exclude government from buying certain products where this isn't possible.

Of course this is all quite irrelevant, since it's a publicity stunt for the people who are not interested in saving taxpayer money but hating and destroying.

dkjaudyeqooe··on DOGE has 'god mode' access to government data
Musk is not in a position to identify waste and fraud.

What does he know of the genesis and status of these payments? Congress directs spending and oversees the administration, not the other way around.

Why does he have to finish in an arbitrary time frame?

This is all justification after the fact for those who support Musk/Trump unconditionally.

It's all fun and games until your Medicare/Social Security/Tax Refund or other legitimate payment gets cancelled arbitrarily, illegally and unconstitutionally.

dkjaudyeqooe··on Grok 3: Another win for the bitter lesson
Human (and other animal) brains probably are probabilistic, but we don't understand their structure or mechanism in fine enough detail to replicate them, or simulate them.

People think LLMs are intelligent because intelligence is latent within the text they digest, process and regurgitate. Their performance reflects this trick.

dkjaudyeqooe··on DOGE has 'god mode' access to government data
No they don't. Do a bit of googling before you post. Trump's actions are in defiance of the conventions of government and the written constitution. It's not even a judgement call, it's bleedingly obvious.
