dkiebd··on 1948: Catholic Church publishes final edition of “Index Librorum Prohibitorum”
One has to read the scripture. In many cases we are talking about things that were clearly defined as sins in the scripture. Just read the scripture instead of making up the rules.

I envy modern Christians for their ability to make up their faith by pretending the scriptures don’t exist. “I was taught that Jesus is love, therefore, if it makes me happy or gives me pleasure it can’t be a sin”
dkiebd··on Blender is Native on Windows 11 on Arm
Microsoft has already made several attempts at ARM. It's not clear that this attempt will be the last one, in fact, it's quite probable that it will be abandoned. So why invest in it.
dkiebd··on The ex-CIA agents deciding Facebook's content policy (2022)
> If I own a social media site wouldn’t you argue that I should be able to control what content I “boost” in the first place? Am I forced to compulsory “boost” your content? In which case wouldn’t that mean I am “censoring” the PoV of the social media company?

That sounds cool as long as you forfeit your Section 230 rights since at that point you’re more of a newspaper than a social network.

Yes, I know all social networks do this currently which is why they should all lose their Section 230 rights.

dkiebd··on That viral video of a 'deactivated' Tesla Cybertruck is a fake
It’s funny that I just read the thread on rationalism and then come back to this one and someone posted this flawed nonsense.
dkiebd··on That viral video of a 'deactivated' Tesla Cybertruck is a fake
Gaywashing and greenwashing for example, which almost all (all?) legacy car companies engage in in some capacity.
dkiebd··on That viral video of a 'deactivated' Tesla Cybertruck is a fake
Tired of car manufacturers doing politics, and this goes for all of them. Well, for all companies. Just make goods and shut up, dammit.
dkiebd··on StarDict sends X11 clipboard to remote servers
"words" is nothing but a list of words. It does not contain definitions for those words, which is what one expects from a dictionary.

dkiebd··on Wikipedia loses challenge against Online Safety Act
I thought people here didn’t like when American companies tried to strongarm democratic governments abroad?
