dkdk8283··on A concept that took hold in the ’70s haunted everything from seat belts to masks
The CCP is an awful regime, truly one of the worst governments in the world.
dkdk8283··on YouTube takes down independent court livestreams
Sad but I think your conjecture is spot on. Platforms such as YT abuse their power regularly without batting an eye.
dkdk8283··on WhatsApp end-to-end encrypted backups security assessment
what channel is that?
dkdk8283··on Making the dislike count private across YouTube
Very sad to see this move, pathetic.
dkdk8283··on A city within a city in Kyiv, whose design was inspired by Legos
I lived in Kyiv and can assure you most people detest the USSR except for the older generations.

There is a strong desire to separate its image from its past.

dkdk8283··on Tell HN: Tesla rear-ended me on autopilot, no one will investigate
Still need transportation…
dkdk8283··on U.S. house prices are rising exponentially faster than income
I am being straight forward, I understand the logic behind your thinking but I cannot support it personally.

> That's exactly why the housing market needs a correction. Because currently, hard work is not sufficient to get into the housing market.

Work smarter not harder. You were able to work smart and afford a home. Many people have. Not all people are equal, your ability to navigate life and the world has a direct input on your quality of life.

dkdk8283··on U.S. house prices are rising exponentially faster than income
I spent a lot of money on my house and I absolutely cannot support any measures that devalue my property. Killing housing values will take money away from hundreds of thousands of people who worked hard for what they have. Why can’t we champion hard work? Why should anyone get anything for free?
dkdk8283··on Spear phishing with Slackbot for fun and profit
or maybe they’re just good at their jobs
dkdk8283··on Spear phishing with Slackbot for fun and profit
I was enjoying this article until it effectively abused the audience to push censorship.
dkdk8283··on Zappos CEO’s final months describe drug-addicted psychosis in court documents
Silicon Valley?
dkdk8283··on The main thing about Phenylacetone meth is that there's so much of it
And us socially acceptable in the bay area to be dependent
dkdk8283··on Right-to-disconnect legislation being introduced by Ontario Government
I don’t double the time but I’m on top of OT and always make sure folks take time off. I normally round up but nothing official
dkdk8283··on The fatiguing effects of camera use in virtual meetings
In response to my contributions? Yes
dkdk8283··on macOS Monterey
Any of the awful UX functions been rolled back? Notifications and the bluetooth menus are an abomination.
dkdk8283··on The FBI's internal guide for getting data from AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon
Never assume- carriers can mandate data collection or sharing.
dkdk8283··on The fatiguing effects of camera use in virtual meetings
I turn off the camera and walk around- this leads to more energy and better engagement for me.
dkdk8283··on Half a million South Korean workers walk off jobs in general strike
It creates real jobs and wealth. A friend of mine has 200 people employed in his family office.
dkdk8283··on Court upholds University of North Carolina’s use of race as factor in admissions
That is absurd: there is no acceptable bias.
dkdk8283··on [dead]
Sounds like a miserable person displacing their blame on an independent third party. You will see stuff you disagree with, it’s healthy to deal with it productively. Temper tantrums solve nothing.
dkdk8283··on America Needs Higher, Longer-Lasting Inflation
This is absurd. Inflation destroys lives and retirement savings.
dkdk8283··on Strict Id Laws Don’t Stop Voters: Evidence from a U.S. Nationwide Panel
If you don’t have ID you can’t drive, get a job, or open a bank account. Requiring ID to vote is a no brainer. Anything else is violating the integrity of our elections and is just utterly absurd IMO.
dkdk8283··on Cybersecurity: EU to Ban Anonymous Websites
Yuck! Just when I thought we were doing things better.

> According to this directive, the registration of internet domain names will in future require the correct identification of the owner in the Whois database

dkdk8283··on New York's largest healthcare provider fires 1,400 unvaccinated workers
No. You’re just assuming that it’s by choice.
dkdk8283··on Terraform vs. AWS CloudFormation
Yes, I have. Strongly prefer plain CF.
dkdk8283··on The Tech Worker Handbook
Tech workers are very well paid yet complain the most and often have unchecked egos. Code will not fix the world. People fix the world.
dkdk8283··on Terraform vs. AWS CloudFormation
Yuck - the CDK is everything I dislike about IaaS. Not everything needs to be actual code.

Complexity management is an often overlooked parameter of reliable infrastructure.

dkdk8283··on New York's largest healthcare provider fires 1,400 unvaccinated workers
The vaccine isn’t without side effects, and there is still a debate about whether natural immunity is sufficient.
dkdk8283··on BMW’s New Overspray-Free Paint Works Like an Inkjet Printer
I searched but didn’t come up with anything I’d buy. Have a link handy?
dkdk8283··on BMW’s New Overspray-Free Paint Works Like an Inkjet Printer
Is this a new technology or just a new use case for an existing process? Inkjet print heads are very close to the surface being painted but this process appears to have a few inches of clearance.

I suspect the paint has additives to help with this process. We didn’t see any color other than black in this demo.

The video doesn’t show any close up pictures of the process but it looks novel.
