djbusby··on I tried every top email marketing tool
Its not even you being criticized - it's the general blog spam listacle.

Now, I'm gonna criticize you for a) not understanding the point up thread and b) taking the general comment too personally.

djbusby··on The Bluesky firehose viewed in the style of a Windows XP screensaver
BSky could use a better search, or a better curation of feeds. I'm certain there is more room in the discovery play.
djbusby··on The Bluesky firehose viewed in the style of a Windows XP screensaver
I think they just mean feelings of early OpenGL (was that what it was?)
djbusby··on The Bluesky firehose viewed in the style of a Windows XP screensaver
I was hoping it was some RegEdit hack to fix driver settings.
djbusby··on Netflix buffering issues: Boxing fans complain about Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson
Mine is glitchy, but if I refresh i get a good steam for a bit, then it gets low res, then freeze. If I wait for auto-reconnect it takes forever. Hard refresh and I'm good. Like, new streams to new server, then overloaded, then does as if their cluster is crashing and healing is rapid cycles. Sawtooth patterns on their charts.

And then all these sessions lag, or orphan taking up space, so many reconnections at various points in the stream.

System getting hammered. Can't wait for this writeup.

Every Amazon show looks the same, yellow washed or something; and they should spend more money on costumes - they get beat by low budget cosplay.

Why is your team morons? Kind of disparaging maybe? Fish rots from the head situation?
djbusby··on How AI is beating VCs in their own game
I've been using some AI for evaluating company pitches and just digging details out of the diligence process. This is exciting.

Hard to see how AI can identify if the company is really innovative, novel. Or if it's a disruptive tech. How could AI even see that?

How can AI help determine the coachability of the team?

These seem like judgement calls that only humans can make.

djbusby··on MomBoard: E-ink display for a parent with amnesia
There has been a number of these on HN. Other features too. The first one I remember seeing was MagicMirror (not e-ink) ages ago.
djbusby··on PgPDF: Pdf Type and Functions for Postgres
I think you mean disclosure.

Why would you disclaim something cool?

djbusby··on AI Hype Is Cooling – New survey
Ask them the definition of using it securely. Ask what they need to see/know to allow a service to be added.
djbusby··on AI Hype Is Cooling – New survey
Exactly their point. 2024 is the experiment (which costs money)

2025 is the pick the winners and drop the losers.

And use money for a different experiment.

djbusby··on Visualizing 13M Bluesky users
One can engage on multiple platforms. Don't have to leave something else to use Mastodon.
djbusby··on Security Is a Useless Controls Problem
Yep. I've seen WAF in "audit mode" and it's got load of client API keys in there, among other fun things.

Check the box for WAF but adds a new risk.

djbusby··on Inside the $20M business of gutting failed Bay Area tech companies
It's a area you sit in to do work things.
djbusby··on Section 230 Immunizes OnlyFans for User-Uploaded Video–DOE vs. Fenix
In USA it's because courts and laws sorta think it should be.

If you're a suspect they get a warrant to search (tap) and seize; which is a 4th amendment thing in USA.

djbusby··on Section 230 Immunizes OnlyFans for User-Uploaded Video–DOE vs. Fenix
Telephone is currently private conversation. Need a warrant to get in (tap).
djbusby··on Ticketmaster’s attempt to game arbitration services fails
Another big company (Amazon) uses arbitration to just move the minimum they can screw you over for. That's is, step one for arbitration is to first pay the arbitration fees (~2k USD). Which basically means you can never fight back for small things.
djbusby··on Delta: A syntax-highlighting pager for Git, diff, grep, and blame output
I'm still on diff-so-fancy; Worth investigating this one?
djbusby··on Intentrace: Strace for Everyone
A better traceroute is mtr - was mentioned a few days ago on here.
djbusby··on Toronto crypto company CEO kidnapped, held for $1M ransom before being released
Companies have to have at least some minimum registration where they conduct enough business.
djbusby··on Toronto crypto company CEO kidnapped, held for $1M ransom before being released
Tornados.
djbusby··on Toronto crypto company CEO kidnapped, held for $1M ransom before being released
The watch is to flaunt your wealth at a small table of other folk, with wealth, who would envy said watch.

Like how Josh could beat SF2 on one quarter.

djbusby··on Toronto crypto company CEO kidnapped, held for $1M ransom before being released
How? I'm not wealthy but I'd like some unrestricted crypto. Do I have to be wealthy for these channels?
djbusby··on We're Leaving Kubernetes
That puts a "scary" VSCode blob on the remote-server. Some orgs do not like that, even if it's a "work" class box.
djbusby··on Nvidia and its partners built a system to bypass U.S. export restrictions
BLS numbers look pretty boring; Oct was +12000; nothing extreme either way. Am I missing something?
djbusby··on Show HN: Tinder, but to Decide What to Eat
UrbanSpoon (again)?
djbusby··on Okta – Username Above 52 Characters Security Advisory
Concise write up; not surprising that cache played a part.

Can't tell if it's issue with BCrypt or with the state-data going into the key, or combo-cache lookup tho.
