disruptalot··on Coinbase offers exit package for employees not comfortable with its mission
You've prescribed here numerous viewpoints that are each fiercely debated and you expect everyone to take it as a package or be on the "status quo".
disruptalot··on Coinbase offers exit package for employees not comfortable with its mission
That's exactly how it should work.

> using the website to display anti-black ideology and actively plan rallies to remove my rights.

When it's not a crime and it's completely based on your subjective view: you're kidding yourself if you think that process is going to be a just measure. Likely, it's just going to be a free for all, whoever gets offended at what.

Let me add another colleague to your mix.

Asian guy: I don't agree on these statements. I'm quitting if we remove this content.

You see where this is going?

disruptalot··on Orthodox Privilege
It is applied. More often that not, the argument is not that these words don't have a single true opposition. But that it's negligent to take this opposition and extrapolate it to the world.
disruptalot··on Google is profiting from Holocaust denial, says Jewish museum
Oh please not this again. The internet is not the united nations. Any step away from serving users free from external pressure in ORGANIC results is a step towards censorship.

If you want to sway people's opinion from results that match their demographic and search behaviour then you better pay for it because that's an AD - no definite representation of truth or relevancy.

If you really want to provide the most relevant result for those queries, produce the content and make it trusted enough for it to rank first. If you can't then you are not relevant.

Google works on trust and relevancy (government links mean a lot for example). There's no devil behind the screen deciding to rank neo Nazi material at Google.

disruptalot··on Google May Be Stealing Mobile Traffic
No because you can have both at the same time? When was the last time you noticed there was analytics happening on the page you were on?
disruptalot··on Google May Be Stealing Mobile Traffic
Google wants you back in their serps as fast as possible and for you to notice that it's an option.
disruptalot··on Show HN: Diggernaut – Turn website content into data sets
Also can't watch the intro video :(. It's not responsive to the screen width.
disruptalot··on Show HN: I made a bot that finds rhymes in videos. Here are some of the rhymes
Nice, been playing about with this myself. Can you share details? How did you sync audio with lyrics?
disruptalot··on A list of all Android permissions

I hope that doesn't do what I think it does...
disruptalot··on Medical guidelines don’t include a diet low in carbohydrates
I'm actually happy that I was baited into reading it. Had the title been "low carb diet recommended for obesity", I would be on my way to the next headline.
disruptalot··on I am a fast webpage
Interestingly, Google has been going after this with AMP (accelerated mobile pages): https://www.ampproject.org/

It enforces a set of rules to accelerate web pages. These rules can be used to validate your pages.

disruptalot··on If English were written like Chinese (1999)
You can imagine being British and learning the American language. Of course people feel cheated if their culture is not credited where it should be.
disruptalot··on If English were written like Chinese (1999)
The original article makes no mention of kanji (Han zi). Instead it ends with: "Well okay, I'll come clean. I've actually been secretly teaching Japanese to you. 口 actually really is the Japanese character for "mouth" and 食 really is the symbol for eating."

Not exactly. Those are Chinese characters and Chinese meanings. The article does not teach anything exclusivly Japanese. For anyone who was not familiar, they would go around with the impression that these characters really originate from Japan. You can imagine how the Chinese people or people who study Chinese would feel being shown this cool new way to learn "Japanese".

disruptalot··on Help to Buy ISA can't be put towards a deposit
This is atrocious. I went full in on the scheme on the basis that it would help towards the deposit, what else would help to "buy" mean? Nobody has a problem paying for a mortgage, banks lend on the basis that you are definitely able to do that without help. So the real issue with buying a property is deposit and getting the mortgage. This scheme is now next to useless.
disruptalot··on If English were written like Chinese (1999)
With the added bonus that it's accurate. Referring to these characters as they are originally: Chinese. Some people don't seem to be very happy about that fact.
disruptalot··on Japanese writing system basics
Finding it surprising no one has corrected the article in that you technically learned Chinese and by proxy Japanese. Chinese traditional characters + meanings largely carried over from Chinese as well. I'm studying mandarin and i was enjoying it until I was told I just learned "Japanese".
disruptalot··on Ask HN: How happy are you working as a programmer?
How did you fall into side projects like that? I've been doing some side projects and while I could comfortably do all the mentioned activities, I don't even dream that it would turn profitable one day. Do you have some sort of method to determine these projects you work on?
