She was drunk and incompetent and had literally no platform or politics other than 'not being Trump' and being a black woman.

>ACA has survived 12 years and enabled a lot of people to obtain health insurance that would not have been able to otherwise, with Republicans wanting to kill it that entire time but failing to do so.

My insurance is more expensive than ever and quality of care lower quality than ever.

>Do you think there was any other system Democrats could have passed instead that would have lasted that long?

Medicare for all. Or lower the age gradually (cover kids and elderly first). They should have voted on it during the pandemic but Pelosi blocked it and AOC wouldn't do anything. They're all fakes.

diogenescynic··on U.S. Troops Were Told Iran War Is for "Armageddon,"
Exactly this. They went the entire pandemic without even bringing a vote on Medicare for All. The democrats are not left wing at all. They are complete corporate sell outs. They don't actually do what their voters want, they represent only their donors.
diogenescynic··on U.S. Troops Were Told Iran War Is for "Armageddon,"
I'll get downvoted by both sides but this is what a winning political party policies look like for most of Americans not in NYC or in SF Bay Area, LA, SD, Seattle, Portland:

-Medicare for all

-Lower income taxes (federal and state) cut all the useless bloat like the $20B in homeless spending we can't even account for in California

-Free state college tuition for local residents (we need to significantly decrease cost of college)

-Universal background checks on guns

-Ban abortion after 20 weeks

-America first and only (stop being Israel's bitch)

-Strong on crime laws (none of this bullshit we deal with in blue states where we catch and release violent offenders constantly and let people run over and kill entire families with ZERO consequences)

-Having no stance on DEI, LGBTQ, or other cultural issues that serve only to divide and distract

>There's a lot of states that have been gerrymandered for years and Christians in extremely red areas have outsized voting power compared to everywhere else. Combined with the complete media capture by billionaires, the dumbest rule by fiat.

It's happening on both sides. https://www.npr.org/2026/01/14/nx-s1-5647442/midterm-electio...

We the public should be rejecting it, but we're idiots and keep falling for 'but they're doing it!' and then undermine our own political power to 'own' the other side. We're being played for fools.

diogenescynic··on U.S. Troops Were Told Iran War Is for "Armageddon,"
And the sad truth is that democrats will continue to nominate candidates that are so appalling they'll still be rejected in favor of this lunatic or someone like him. Pathetic options on both sides. The two party system is failing the country. If there was literally anything in the middle, I feel like we'd be better off than lurching from one extreme to the other.
diogenescynic··on Thirty years on, Pokémon is still a monster hit
It’s not just video games but everything… movies, music, everything has basically barely evolved compared to the prior 30 years. Compare 1965 to 1995 and 1995 to present and it’s so clear we have become stagnant in so many ways. Way fewer choices in a lot of ways even if we have more convenient options.

diogenescynic··on ICE expands power of agents to arrest people without warrants
"Flooded minds don’t ask about incentives, second-order effects, or long-term consequences. They ask a single question: how do we stop this feeling right now? That’s when urgency and moral absolutism enter. Action must be immediate. Hesitation becomes cruelty. Nuance becomes complicity. Disagreement is reframed as a character defect: if you don’t agree, you lack empathy. Deliberation is replaced by moral pressure."

Read the article I linked. You are exactly what it's talking about.

diogenescynic··on ICE expands power of agents to arrest people without warrants
That's why Obama gave him a medal. Homan is great at what he does. Too bad for the selective outrage over this. He was doing his job non-politically in the background for years until TDS brain rot made the left so easily manipulated into hysteria.
diogenescynic··on ICE expands power of agents to arrest people without warrants
There's an immigration checkpoint near my house. I've had to present my ID. It took all of 5 minutes and then I moved on with my life. The hysterical response to all this is ridiculous. When you get a hotel in Europe, they take a copy of your passport and track you. Why do people think every other country is different than what we are doing? In fact, we already have the most liberal immigration laws in the entire world, not even debatable. We let in more legal immigrants every year than the rest of the world combined. If you can't come here legally and you commit crimes, I have no problem with deporting them. Why would I fight to keep more criminals here when they have no right to be here? I don't understand the game democrats are playing at. I'd love to see liberals go to another country and realize most other countries are openly racist to a degree they wouldn't even comprehend. The real world is far from a cosmopolitan leftist utopia.
diogenescynic··on Surely the crash of the US economy has to be soon
Even if bears are occasionally right, they aren't right often enough to really be a winning strategy IMO. Look at the S&P500 gains for the last 10 years, some years it's down, but most years it's up. 99.99% of people won't be able to sell at the top and buy at the bottom, so you have to just dollar-cost average and invest in the total marke. FI you do that--you're going to be fine because even if the market is down 22% in one year, it's up double digits 3x as often. You have to just invest with a long-term perspective and can't worry about 6/12 month time horizons.
diogenescynic··on Surely the crash of the US economy has to be soon
There's a real estate YouTube channel that's been calling for a real estate downturn for like 8 years (pre-Pandemic). Eventually they'll be right.
diogenescynic··on When employees feel slighted, they work less
Thanks and appreciate it.

I did try that last year but it honestly went no where. I work on a financial system at a fintech company but I am on the finance side and my managers and above have never even logged into the system so they don't understand, appreciate, or really have interest in it. All they hear about are breaks in data, or some trivial error (99% caused by the bank or employee inputting a payment incorrectly, etc.) so they hear more negative feedback which I think biases them instead of them understanding that the failure rate is less than 1% and when you have 50,000 payments there's going to always be something that goes wrong--it could be as simple as the date. I implemented a change that allowed us to invest more funds and added almost 10 figures in interest income, but I'm not sure anyone but my manager even knows that. I ultimately blame my manager, he's old and useless and seems to be unmotivated to deliver anything for his direct reports.

diogenescynic··on When employees feel slighted, they work less
>At a past company, we originally had a fairly flat org structure. Jr, Mid, Sr, for the ICs. It worked, and everyone was happy. Eventually they brought in some new leadership from one of the big tech companies, and the new leadership brought a levels system. Suddenly we went from a large and flat org, to having all sorts of letters and numbers for levels. And none of the existing staff was promoted to the new levels, they just got moved to the equivalent, while the new leadership hired their own people to the higher eschelons. This already damaged morale, because you had new E6 and E7 or whatever engineers who didn't know their way around the codebase at all, while an E2 or E3 was having to do everything.

This is exactly what has happened. I've had 6 different reporting structures in the 6 years I've worked there. So much leadership change and more levels to the pyramid added. I was promoted the first/only time after my first year and a half--for something that has scaled exponentially since then and I still manage individually despite other teams who co-manage the system being given 8 more employees.

>They kind of kept their word: promotions cycles started happening every 6 months. But the next cycle came through, and once again I was left behind. So this time, instead of asking for clarification, I just started looking for a new job, and handed in a letter of resignation a few weeks later. Upon handing in the letter, I was told "oh we were going to promote you next week!"

Yep, I was part of the original 3 on the team. Only one has been promoted, the other left, and I am still in the same position. Even though the promo cycle has been increased, it's no different. I am 95% sure that my manager didn't even read my self-evaluation because he specifically asked for more metrics and that's what the first bullet point of my self-evaluation had.

diogenescynic··on When employees feel slighted, they work less
I just got my annual review and for the 4th year in a row, no changes. I'm still "meeting expectations" but apparently not deserving of even a crumb of the millions in additional profits I've brought in. I am damn sure not going to work as hard going forward when working hard doesn't even lead to a positive outcome. I may not control the scope or even volume of work assigned to me, but I do control the pace and why bother working faster/harder for nothing?

>Obamas ICE didnt sweep from door to door.

DUH because the cities were collaborating and not actively flouting ICE. They didn't need to go door to door. Go back to the same way it was under Obama and this wouldn't be happening.

diogenescynic··on Minnesota is under siege. This cannot stand
I'm not complaining about the past--I'm actually praising Obama for his consistency with uploading the law. You are the one complaining about the present (so that's an interesting rhetorical attack to invert reality like that). I'm pointing out that democrats complaining about Trump were not complaining about Obama--were you? Or were you one of the ones who took the bait that Trump was building concentration camps (that were actually facilities built under Obama)? You don't think it's funny that the people now calling it fascism were ignoring the same thing under Obama? The sanctuary cities were turning over illegal immigrants who committed crimes to ICE when Obama was in office. They called him Deporter in Chief. It's mass hysteria led by Rachel Maddow and these TDS inflicted people who can't get a grip on reality under Trump. They've truly lost it. Trump isn't Hitler, this isn't fascism, and this is nothing more than sour grapes. In 20 years, people will mock democrats for this period.
diogenescynic··on Minnesota is under siege. This cannot stand
Numerous sources for that number. PEW, CBP (under Biden), etc. Just google it and it's widely sourced. https://www.newsweek.com/fact-check-did-20-million-illegal-i...

I'm not angry and I'm not the one hurling insults. I simply see this as the logical reaction of the pendulum swinging in the opposite direction. The same forces that allowed this under Biden are what directly led to Trump.

>Why do you fascist cheerleaders always dress up Constitutionally-protected activity in emotionally charged language?

It's funny when people resort to name calling because you know they have no argument. I never even voted for Trump but I can call a ball or a strike on this without being blinded by political party preferences.

Also, the definition of flout is neutral it means to openly disregard something so I used it accurately. They call them sanctuary cities... they are openly communicating them as a place where federal laws will not be applied.

>At this point, smart money is on viewing Trump as a hybrid warfare attack by foreign powers on the US.

No, this is what old Boomers who watch too much brain rot like Rachel Maddow think. If there as a shred of evidence of this, they would have released it by now instead of whispering and alluding to it for a decade or more. It's nothing more than sour grapes from Hillary.

diogenescynic··on Minnesota is under siege. This cannot stand
Immigration law != Law enforcement

I worked for immigrants (and the companies sponsoring immigrants).

That said I am nuanced individual and believe in legal immigration and I think Biden letting in tens of millions illegally and all these sanctuary cities was eventually going to create some kind of legal conflict. It's obvious that municipal law cannot supersede federal law.

diogenescynic··on Minnesota is under siege. This cannot stand
We're going to have to wait until Boomers age out to get any form of common sense government. They've absolutely been the most damaging generation and will leave a wake of destruction for future generations to recover (or not) from.
diogenescynic··on Minnesota is under siege. This cannot stand
>...they are saying that because immigarion law is federal (as you point out) they will not assist in its enforcement.

Not true, they previously reported non-citizens to ICE under Obama and Obama deported more than 3 million... You don't even have your baseline understanding of what's going on correct. Immigration laws shouldn't be selectively enforced depending on who is in the White House.

diogenescynic··on Minnesota is under siege. This cannot stand
Sure, and I'm pointing out what's changed from Obama to Trump is the way that 'sanctuary cities' are complying with federal immigration laws. Under Obama, the sanctuary cities provided lists of students whose parents weren't citizens etc and the media didn't cover the arrests etc. It's selective enforcement of the law. When democrats are in power, they enforce it and media ignores it. When republicans are in power, they defy it and media covers it like it's Nazi Germany. It's absurd and anyone paying attention should reject this framing.
diogenescynic··on Minnesota is under siege. This cannot stand
>Perhaps it has to do with the method used?

It was different because the sanctuary cities turned over lists of the students whose parents weren't citizens. It made it a lot easier. Also no media coverage. You won't know if the tactics were any different because democrat cities actually complied with the law. Again, it goes to democrats being hypocrites and selectively caring/enforcing issues when they think people are paying attention.

>I don't think most people are in favor of illegal immigration. That would be an extremist view. Most people are probably somewhere in the middle and I don't think that band is too wide.

Yep, I live in California and we require immigration for a lot of jobs and industries. I'm not against immigration... in a past life I worked in immigration law. I am against this selective enforcement of the law depending on who is the President. You can't run a country like this.

diogenescynic··on Why some clothes shrink in the wash and how to unshrink them
Anyone who is a little bigger ever noticed how it doesn't really matter what size you buy because after a few washes they all shrink down to the same size? Makes me think it's the same amount of fabric being used so the shirt even if it's sold as a bigger size, ultimately reverts back to another size over time.

And when supply catches up, overdoses will spike because addicts tolerance will have decreased.
diogenescynic··on Tesla sales fell by 9 percent in 2025, its second yearly decline
Resale values are trash, motion sickness is terrible, electrical rates are going up, and it's a pain in the ass to travel long distance and wait to recharge constantly. I think EVs have hit that saturation point where everyone who wanted one has bought one and now some people are going back to other options. Also Elon hasn't exactly remained neutral so that probably makes it even harder since it seems like there is significant overlap between Tesla's potential customer base and his political opposition.
diogenescynic··on The Delete Act
I guess, but even that I don't think I'd support making that a legal requirement. If it's public data I have no problem with it being searchable on the internet. I know that's not always convenient but I think to do anything different starts to set bad legal precedents which will not be in favor of the public.
