dimovich··on Racket: Lisp for Learning
Yes, you can do all that in JavaScript using libraries. But in how many of your projects ARE you using all this? That's the question. And what are the steps you have to take and the cognitive load to make sure all the libraries you're using adhere to these conventions, and all the people that contribute code to your project also use the right paradigms?

When all these things are baked into your language, you're free from all the worries and cognitive load to make sure everything works as you expect it to work.

dimovich··on Clojure and Deps.edn: A basic guide
What I really like about deps.edn is the ability to add git repos and also local projects as deps. Makes forking and testing libraries a charm.

Another wonderful tutorial about using deps.edn that contains additional tips for Emacs -- https://cjohansen.no/tools-deps-figwheel-main-devcards-emacs...

dimovich··on Eva – A distributed entity-attribute-value database in Clojure
I also started with Datascript both on frontend and backend, but ended up using instead its core data structure - persistent-sorted-set [1], which works really well if all you need is indexing.

dimovich··on Atreus Keyboard Build
Got my Atreus kit in the mail today. Can't wait to put it together! Phil, thanks for a wonderful product!
dimovich··on Introduction to Clojure (2013)
The geom library is amazing! Client-side and server-side generation of charts with same code. The documentation is also great.

The project was written in a Literate Programming style. These turned out to be an obstacle for contributions, so there is an ongoing effort to migrate the code out of that. You can find the latest version on this branch: https://github.com/thi-ng/geom/tree/feature/no-org

dimovich··on What could you write down about a juggling pattern? (1993)
Thanks! That was very informative.

Coffee, weed and plenty of water.
dimovich··on Books I used to develop a game engine

dimovich··on Launch HN: CoinTracker (YC W18) – Cryptocurrency portfolio and tax manager
Heard someone mentioning that as long as the price of DOGE is rising, the market is irrational. So it's a good indicator of current state.
dimovich··on Music visualizer with glitch effect
I got the same... Submited a request to remove the block. Thanks for the great lib!
dimovich··on Hugo: A fast and modern static website engine
Thank you.
dimovich··on Hugo: A fast and modern static website engine
Can I ask you, what libs do you use for the layout and theme?
dimovich··on Screw motivation, what you need is discipline
Discipline is the protocol, action is the data.
dimovich··on Lisp is Abstract Syntax
The code itself is hierarchical in nature.
dimovich··on Lisp is Abstract Syntax
We're hard-wired for Lisp. Broca's area 44,45 and 47 are responsible for processing hierarchical structures.[1] That's why it's so easy to reason about Lisp code.

dimovich··on Reasons to use a paper-based task manager
I find that keeping a ziplock with pieces of papers (one task per piece of paper) solves most of my task planning.
dimovich··on Clojure 1.5
Thanks. Just completed peepcode's Clojure screencast based on https://github.com/technomancy/mire

This should be a nice follow-up.

dimovich··on The Mindful Programmer - mindfully get more stuff done.
Freedom is stateless, and enlightenment is the full realization of Ego's lazy sequence of beliefs.
dimovich··on Ask HN: what was the best life/programming choice you ever made?
Yes. Zazen... If I could go back in time and give myself any advice, it would be the daily practice of silence.
