dihydro··on Ask HN: Why do my online accounts keep getting banned?
Yes, but if I was looking to make a fake identity, I would steal a real one and fudge something like the SSN plus or minus one on a random digit. Then you can blame the mismatch on their people making a typo, and they would be less likely to look closer at my forged SSN card/Passport/Drivers License.
dihydro··on Ask HN: What is the oldest, still supported OS?
> Except conventions derive their value from the proportion of people using it.

False; see US vs ISO date formatting.

dihydro··on Democrats propose federal gas tax holiday ahead of midterm elections
Of course it's none, so our already failing infrastructure can continue to decline.
dihydro··on Thousands of Mazdas in the Seattle area are stuck on a single FM radio station
I love the Song of the Day podcast from them. Highlights so many good artists.

99% Invisible found out that Mazda has a bug in their radio that cannot parse special characters. See their article here: https://99percentinvisible.org/episode/the-roman-mars-mazda-...
dihydro··on Ask HN: How do you learn effectively with a short attention span?
I'd like to expand on your last point. I was trying to sit down and dedicate whole hours to certain things, but I found that it just burned out my attention even faster, and then I could only do two, three hours max before I had to take a break, which of course spirals into a two or three hour break before you realize. This lead me to work more on a pomodoro schedule, where I dedicate 20-40 minutes to one thing, and one thing only. Then I have a three to five minute break, then I start on the next thing. If I don't know what to work on next, then the next work block is to figure out the next couple work blocks. I can work this schedule for about four or five hours, which is enough time to get to lunch, or to take a longer break.
dihydro··on Architect Resigns in Protest over UCSB Mega-Dorm
Go to your nearest grocery, hardware, or department store, head to the back on the day that a truck comes, and look around. Just because you haven't seen it doesn't mean it exists. You fell into the argument from ignorance fallacy. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argument_from_ignorance

I could assume that they would have those amenities also, but we have no way of knowing, and isn't that a concern in and of itself? In the article linked below, the artist renderings look more like an open concept market place like a mall or Boston Public Market. Fine spaces to eat, shop, and socialize, but not so good for study. https://www.news.ucsb.edu/2021/020361/absolutely-stunning
dihydro··on Raspberry Pi KVMs Compared: TinyPilot and Pi-KVM v3
I just backed your project because of this video. I can't wait to get my hands on it and give it a try.
