devrandoom··on The Art of Fugue – Contrapunctus I (2021)
Fugues are still being written. Here's one from 2016, although a bit controversial:

devrandoom··on As a programmer, get your math sorted
Also, one important thing I've learnt is not to take in advice from obnoxious people.
devrandoom··on Dependency injection frameworks add confusion
Cancer? It's poisoned blood and slayer of puppies, hopes and dreams. It's the lord of hell.
devrandoom··on Show HN: F2 – Cross-Platform CLI Batch Renaming Tool
Wow, this goes instantly to my toolbox. Thanks for writing this and sharing it!

It only happens a few times a year that I need to batch rename. Buy when I do my adrenaline levels go up by about two espressos.

devrandoom··on MCP is the coming of Web 2.0 2.0
Won't this be used to spam AI with ads and "search engine optimization" equivalent?
devrandoom··on InventWood is about to mass-produce wood that's stronger than steel
> Pine is well suited to its use

What isn't well suited for it's use?

devrandoom··on InventWood is about to mass-produce wood that's stronger than steel
Strange but fantastic
devrandoom··on Letsencrypt will kill SMTP server auth following Chrome CA policy change
Why?
devrandoom··on Git Bug: Distributed, Offline-First Bug Tracker Embedded in Git, with Bridges
This is a bug tracker. What you are describing is much closer to a project management tool, just to make the difference clear.
devrandoom··on PDF to Text, a challenging problem
I currently use ocrmypdf for my private library. Then Recoll to index and search. Is there a better solution I'm missing?
devrandoom··on As US vuln-tracking falters, EU enters with its own security bug database
Currently 42% done

devrandoom··on As US vuln-tracking falters, EU enters with its own security bug database
It's sad to see the US being dismantled from within.
devrandoom··on I ruined my vacation by reverse engineering WSC
Performance reasons? Malware development? Hacking?
devrandoom··on Gmail to SQLite
This could be an interesting take, GDPR wise. Google handling personal emails of people that have no contract or business relationship with Google.
devrandoom··on First American pope elected and will be known as Pope Leo XIV
If he is taxed, he should renounce US citizenship as he's very unlike to move back to the US.
devrandoom··on My stackoverflow question was closed so here's a blog post about CoreWCF
I stopped flagging things on SO when some of my flags were deemed unhelpful. They clearly weren't.
devrandoom··on (ab?)using Node module hooks to speed up development
It's hard to get the idea down from one's head into a document, as this text shows.
devrandoom··on Trump's Trade War with China: One Ship, $417M in New Tariffs
Why don't they triple the tarrifs and triple the income? The gov would be rolling in money.
devrandoom··on Getting things “done” in large tech companies
Also bear in mind that you're slowly strolling on the road to burnout.
devrandoom··on Show HN: I built a synthesizer based on 3D physics
Haha, I know that feeling. Usually I get an idea, wait 4 years and someone else will have done it.

Even "bad" ideas. I had an idea in the mid 90s about mass internet surveillance. But then I thought it would be so disgusting that noone would do it. I was naive.

devrandoom··on Liverpool's title win has completed a mysterious Fibonacci sequence
This could be a substory in Terry Pratchett's Discword. Some eccentric wizard combining mathematics with football.
devrandoom··on AI code review: Should the author be the reviewer?
Nothing wrong with reviewing your own code per se. But it's not a "code review" as such.

It's very hard to spot your own mistakes, you tend to read what you intended to write, not what's actually written.

This applies both to code and plain text.

devrandoom··on Amazon to display tariff costs for consumers
Trump made them an offer they couldn't refuse.
devrandoom··on Amazon to display tariff costs for consumers
That requires you to know when the item was imported. The tarrif forecast is a harder business than mid level wizardry.
devrandoom··on Researchers experimented on Reddit users with AI-generated comments
Reddit is furious, understandably.

I wonder if other groups are using AI to post on Reddit too?

devrandoom··on LibreLingo – FOSS Alternative to Duolingo
What are the modern methods and what's to back up they're better?
devrandoom··on Berkeley Humanoid Lite – Open-source robot
Robots that take over the old fashioned traditional housewife job will cause an outrage.
devrandoom··on Inmates in ElSalvador tortured/strangled-hellish conditions in Bukele's prisons (2023)
Handy that's outside US and not their responsibility. Remember that Auschwitz was also outside Germany.
devrandoom··on Manufactured consensus on x.com
X is a cult. People I know are being totally brainwashed.

There so much misinformation, fabrication and half truths out there. Repeateted over and over again in various forms.

When the full story surfaces two days later, they'll never see that on their cult hub.

devrandoom··on The Rise and Fall of Toys 'R' Us (2018)
I personally stopped shopping with them because they stopped selling toys and sold only crappy expensive garbage.
