Reference is old enough that we're not sure if you're joking.

300mbps for Wifi calling? I'd say more like video streaming/calling.

At least block the external IP and ports where the transfers are happening. Change the router password, some neighbor might be in the network.

It sounds like it might be part of a DDoS campaign, as well. Hard to diagnose here.

deusum··on The Iran Firewall: A preliminary report
Conceptually, it was interesting. I can forgive it for lacking details, as a "preliminary report", too.

But the whole, "neo-liberal arses" bit gave it the sense of an unhinged author or untrustworthy narrator.

I suspect parent meant the way the list is processed and how the structure resides in memory.

We'd optimally want, e.g., aaa.ai to resolve as fast as zzz.zx. If we just loaded the file for every query and ran down the list linearly we'd probably see a large disparity with the former being much quicker than the latter.

So, the question would be: how is it done in an efficient way? Is it loaded into a btree, is each domain broken into various parts, are certain domains prioritized, threading, compression?

Plus, there's the queries for dns updates, and how the results get integrated.

The first paragraph was mostly facetious.

The second merely suggests an unusually clever, yet plausible methodology.

With that nest of hair I wonder maybe he disassembles the device and puts small parts in various locations, the most detectable in the shoe or "the pocket".

Someone familiar with slight of hand could comfortably scratch here and there while dropping pieces in a 'build' pocket.

Not my kit here... But...

About 20 years ago (in college, of course) I ran OpenBSD on an UltraSparc 5 as our network router.

We had hundreds of meters of Ethernet cable running across the house and out through the windows - by way of a LinkSys switch - as it was the most "economical" route for the network.

WiFi back then was new, expensive, and comparatively slow. Sub 9ms ping is what we needed for gaming, and 54mbit wasn't gonna do it.

I worked hard on the firewall rules, and it had zero downtime, felt like a real sysadmin.

Maybe I was.

Linux has similar vulnerability some extent, and dependent on the distro. Just because you're Linux doesn't mean invincible.

Qubes feels like the best answer, but ran too slow on my box to watch video.

Firejail feels like a decent balance but I found myself digging through config files when, e.g., I wanted to save a file from Gimp into a new location.

Expect any paradigm shift to take at least a decade.

deusum··on Plasma Bigscreen
If I understand correctly it uses a RPi or other ARM device attached to the TV.

Is there anything out there tbat overwrite the TV's "smart" firmware? Something analogous to OpenWRT and its router support?

It would be bet cool if you could use the controller and buttons "natively".
