deaddabe··on What Every C Programmer Should Know About Undefined Behavior
Nice read, I recommend the 3 articles of the series.

One thing that I find artificial in the examples is to use signed integers for loops. I always have seen unsigned integers in practice. In general I try to avoid signed integers like plague for big values storage and only use them for error propagation, with negative values for errors like the libc does.

deaddabe··on Linus doesn’t like how GitHub does merge requests
I have the same feeling regarding both Github and Gitlab merge requests. After using Gerrit for almost 4 years at work with enforced fast-forward, having a linear git log is relaxing.

The merge commits enforced by these "mainstream" platforms are noise for me. I think that now one can choose to fast-forward on pull requests, but per PR and not by default.

deaddabe··on French Senate considers mandatory Covid vaccines for adults aged 24-59
To my current knowledge, this possible "mandatory vaccine" policy has not been mentioned on local French TV or media. I think it would just reenforce the antivaccine people in their convictions that prevents them from getting vaccinated in the first place.

Another option that was explained in public media is to enforce the "vaccination pass" for meeting in public spaces, like in cinema and restaurants, where you can currently go without any certificate. The idea is that people will want to get vaccinated to go to the restaurant and see movies. Maybe people will just simply not go there anymore (they got used to it) and invite their (unvaccinated) friends at their places instead.

From my siblings, I distinguish two kinds of people that did not get their first shot:

(1) Did not took the time to reserve a slot and get vaccinated because <reasons>, but wants to be vaccinated at some point; and (2) Actively does not want to be vaccinated because <reasons>.

For (1) the summer vacations may be a reason that people are delaying their first shot, they will probably deal with it after summer. The mandatory vaccination pass for accessing public spaces may force them to act upon earlier.

For (2) I am not sure mandatory vaccines will get public approval at all. Yellow vests almost blocked the country for a tax increase on gas. I feel like the same kind of people will get pretty upset about vaccine enforcement, and will be creative in protests somehow.
