They did send me a refund though.
I really really dont like the idea of someone potentially having my DNA while I didn't even get my end of the bargain (dietary recommendations, possibly knowing what will likely kill me, etc)

Sometimes months. But standing months are rare.
I wonder if spraying some lube in the works will help with the noise... Hmmm.
Progress in technology is progress regardless.
I just watched a few episodes of Black Mirror so I'm in cynical mode. I'm not trying to be argumentative but it just felt more like a non-sequitur than anything...
Progress is good (mostly), though, right?
As for which economies that progress happens to bolster, well, let the chips fall where they may, I suppose.
But the reality is probably simpler in the sense that complex things are just that: complex, and modeling them is at least as complex, so it will always be hard, and it's only the meta-ideas that can have lasting applicable value. And he's pretty great at disseminating his meta-ideas.
As a non-academic and a web developer, if I were to publish some work of mine, I have always known that I would do it in the form of a webpage. That way, I can make it as dynamic as I need it to be.
On the one hand: It is powerful at automating some the typical tedium you always have. It gives you a better chance to end up with a decent view model, by forcing it upon you.
On the other hand: You lose control. Almost always you can gain it back, but it is an uphill battle. If you know you need low level control (for example over complex animations and interactions in your UI) you've got to think carefully.
It all comes back to perspective. As an interaction engineer I really hate the process of trying to make a specific animation work the way I want inside of a React managed DOM. As an application developer, the purity of the approach is extremely attractive.
Also I must brush up on Grid. It's about time we got rid of god damn tables.
They could do it, though. They could.
