daviddavis··on Ask HN: How does your company ensure its code and product are of quality?
We use a three prong attack that has really boosted our code quality:

1. Automated unit tests AND behavior driven tests (outside-in testing)

2. Having the code checked by another developer by doing a code review or pair programming

3. Week of hardening where the code is tested by the project manager/business analyst/QA person

I really think that helps to cover all bases. Clients sometimes think it's overkill but it's much easier to fix a bug the earlier it's caught.

daviddavis··on Recommended Readings in AI - a list by Russell and Norvig
I came in here to say the same thing. I've been learning Lisp and some other functional languages but I'm still not sure why Lisp and Prolog make such good AI languages.
daviddavis··on Git is Inconsistent
I wonder how mercurial compares in this aspect. Also, I'll keep using git because for sure, it's a helluva lot better than SVN or CVS (which my company was using when I got there).
daviddavis··on Ask HN: how to become a morning person?
To expand on number 7, the best way to maintain an early morning routine is to eat within 1 hour of waking. I went from a night owl to a person that wakes up every morning at 5am to run 5k and work out. Now on the weekends I can't sleep in past 7am.
