danielsamuels··on NYC Bike Stats
Strava, MapMyRide and Garmin Connect would probably be the best data sources.
danielsamuels··on British Government loses Article 50 court fight
> Ultimately a clear majority of the UK population is in favor of leave. This has increased since the vote as the lies of the remain campaign proved not to be true.

I would argue that the opposite is true.

danielsamuels··on Applying the Linus Torvalds “Good Taste” Coding Requirement
I feel like for the each side you could actually handle two items per iteration, one forwards _and_ one backwards. That way your iteration count could be halved.
danielsamuels··on PayPal 2FA Bypass
I imagine you could have got the same results with inspect element and deleting the form fields, rather than using a proxy.
danielsamuels··on Why we chose Vue.js
Well the React guys wrote a lot of it, so..

Yeah, the scaling is a massive issue for Burst. This is how it looks on that page for me: https://i.imgur.com/nGFGwuU.png
danielsamuels··on Homebrew 1.0.0
Yeah, I'd definitely love to see an option to hide the icon.
danielsamuels··on 'Mr. Robot' may be fiction, but its hacking plots are all too real
Season finale is tonight in the US, so it's good timing if you want to binge watch the whole thing.
danielsamuels··on Homebrew 1.0.0
Fair enough, I've personally never had that experience.

Postgres.app[1] would make your life even easier. :)

danielsamuels··on GoDoc: package letsencrypt
Out of interest, is the built-in Go server what everyone uses for hosting their Go websites? I'm used to the typical Nginx / Gunicorn / Python stack and Python's built-in server is used for nothing more than development.
danielsamuels··on Elevated error rates on applications and deployments
I use Github pages for my personal site.
danielsamuels··on Show HN: Find a movie to watch the lazy way
A JPG would be far less.
danielsamuels··on Google's login page accepts a vulnerable GET parameter
That wouldn't solve this problem given that the page they're redirecting to _is_ a Google page, the continue check enforces that.
danielsamuels··on Looking ahead for WhatsApp
How much were you paying for Whatsapp then, how much are you paying now?
danielsamuels··on Pokémon Go data usage draws attention of House Energy and Commerce Committee [pdf]
I have 12GB of tethering included in my £18/mo unlimited plan.
danielsamuels··on Hacker News' “Who is Hiring?” thread, part 2, remote and locations
I wonder if this is conflating Cambridge, UK with Cambridge in the US?
danielsamuels··on Facebook Messenger begins testing end-to-end encryption using Signal Protocol
I'm pretty sure they're all the same thing.
danielsamuels··on 8x Nvidia GTX 1080 Hashcat Benchmarks
I'd be interested in seeing that the numbers are like for Argon2.
danielsamuels··on Critical Security Release for GitLab 8.2 through 8.7
Github isn't open source.
danielsamuels··on Show HN: Jam API, turn any site into a JSON api using CSS selectors
A CORS restriction perhaps?
danielsamuels··on Thermal camera footage allegedly shows pro cyclists using motors
You have to also remember that she didn't actually use the bike either, it was one of her spares.
danielsamuels··on Thermal camera footage allegedly shows pro cyclists using motors
Lampre-Merida too. So 5 total.
danielsamuels··on Thermal camera footage allegedly shows pro cyclists using motors
4 I think: Cannondale, Lampre Merida, Giant Alpecin, Trek Segafredo.
danielsamuels··on Namecheap live chat social engineering leads to loss of 2 VPS
> but on the way out decided to click the conveniently located “Re-install” button next to each VPS. This instantly wipes everything and installs a new OS. Again this action requires no 2FA authentication or any other form of confirmation

This is the same for DigitalOcean. I'm always amazed that clicking "Rebuild" or "Delete + Scrub Data" doesn't require _any_ confirmation at all.

danielsamuels··on Ask HN: Why is there a black bar added on top?
What search box are you talking about?
danielsamuels··on The 451 status code is now supported
> We've been asked to remove everything, the games can't even show up in a search result.

Makes me wonder if we should have a robots.txt per locale.

danielsamuels··on A love letter to jQuery
I'm 24, but I grew up supporting IE6 and remember trying to get cross compatibility working for the mess that we called 'browsers' back then. It's been great to see the evolution of Javascript over the last 10 or so years, it's fairly obvious how many of the new features we take for granted came from jQuery originally.

I do avoid jQuery now though, I can't remember the last time I used it.

danielsamuels··on GitHub responds to Dear GitHub letter
I have these for merging a PR into develop and master respectively. Usage is `git pr <#>`

  pr  = "!f() { git checkout develop && git fetch -fu ${2:-origin} refs/pull/$1/head:pr/$1 && git checkout pr/$1 && git rebase -i origin/develop && git checkout develop && git merge - && git push; }; f"
  prm  = "!f() { git checkout master && git fetch -fu ${2:-origin} refs/pull/$1/head:pr/$1 && git checkout pr/$1 && git rebase -i origin/master && git checkout master && git merge - && git push; }; f"

Implying Discource isn't terrible. I've never found it intuitive to use.
