dangerboysteve··on Samsung ends mobile phone production in China
I'm guessing the question is rhetorical but ... robots.
dangerboysteve··on Cabin releases 2nd-gen fleet of sleeper bus from SF to LA and back
I'm thinking a Wework on wheels. We're not a bus company we're a tech company!
dangerboysteve··on Camera sales are falling sharply
I purchased a Canon 5D MarkII many years back and still own it. The main issue is the size of the body and whatever lens is on it and having to worry about it when you take it somewhere. That is where phone cameras shine. But every time I break out I'm reminded how bloody amazing the pictures are.
dangerboysteve··on Cooling a house without air conditioning
Have you looked at installing a attic fan to pull air from the lower floors upwards into the attic for venting? I recall This Old House doing a segment on this some time ago and a cooling option.

dangerboysteve··on Netflix’s biggest bingers get hit with higher internet costs
Maybe this is not the case for Comcast but Netflix deploys edge servers into the data centers of ISP to cache content local to the client. So this should make the data on-net and keeping it inside the ISP's pipes. if this is the case, why would overages be factored in with this traffic? Greed ... count all traffic as traffic on-net and off ?

dangerboysteve··on Apple Factory Thefts: Secret Tunnels, Hidden Crawl Spaces
The article mentions that penalties are possible with smaller suppliers but Foxconn is untouchable as they are vital and Apple would not dare impose penalties against them.
dangerboysteve··on Google pays $11M to job-seekers who alleged age discrimination
$38,500 per person assuming 30% fee going to lawyers. Seems kind of low.
dangerboysteve··on Rent the Backyard (YC S19) wants to build a studio apartment in your yard
A couple of things to consider for the homeowner, increases in property taxes and insurance but also the taxable revenue from the rental and its impact on personal taxes you will have to pay. And then there is resale value for a property that is locked into multi year agreement.
dangerboysteve··on How I tried to compete with YouTube and Google with Livevideo.com

dangerboysteve··on Amazon fired hundreds of workers a year from one warehouse over ‘productivity’
I imagine all these facilities have a high churn rate of employees to begin with.
dangerboysteve··on Facebook Expects to Be Fined Up to $5B by FTC Over Privacy Issues
Facebook will not acknowledge any wrongdoing as part of the settlement....Which is what I expect the script to read.

If the settlement happens, I imagine this would provide some weight behind any class action lawsuit.

dangerboysteve··on Testing KettlePizza and Baking Steel's New Joint Pizza Oven (2013)
Purchased a Roccbox last year and it's a fantastic well designed portable pizza oven. Used it a ton of times and have loaned it to family and they loved it. Although I has only used the gas burner attachment I like having the wood rocket stove option. Worth the money.

I also own a custom cut baking steel for indoor cooks and bread.

This happens also to hunters that fall from hunting in tree stands and are wearing a safety harness.

Crisis management playbook in action.
dangerboysteve··on Scooter mechanic, once homeless, says cheap rides now help him pay rent
I don't believe this to be true. Many examples up in Canada where national newspapers kept reporting on the amazoning housing markets in many cities that mirrored press releases from the realtor associations. Real data contraticted that many times over.
dangerboysteve··on Hook on PG&E Tower Eyed as Cause of Deadly Camp Fire

Maybe some of these investors used the proceeds to invest in other legitimate funds, made a profit and benifited from an "interest free loan".
dangerboysteve··on Scooter mechanic, once homeless, says cheap rides now help him pay rent
This is exactly the first things I thought of. The only thing missing was the byline of the PR firm that either wrote the article or paid to have it written.
