This does raise the point that perhaps browsers should have a development mode that does raise errors though.
This is what HTML validators are for.
Browsers should do their best to interpret the page authors intention and actually display a page. The developer doesn't always have 100% control over the page markup (think about user generated content, ads etc...)
It's going to be pretty heavy on GPU's mind. The rMBP's do it by rendering a 2x density frame and scaling it down for the display. This means the GPU will have to render a 5120x2880 pixel frame and scale it down to 3840 x 2160.
Also, Mavericks is much snappier than ML from what I've seen so far and makes much better use of RAM.
You should be able to run Linux on it too if you really don't get on with OS X, although you will likely sacrifice some of that battery life.
It really doesn't take much to at least make sure your website is accessible. If it doesn't work properly it's likely I'll give up and not even bother trying anywhere else.
Also, it doesn't look like Redshift is available for Mac OS.
I believe that the power requirements are down to the number of pixels more than the size.
