Great and informative article unlike my comment
If you use a filesystem that isn't mainline and it breaks it's all on you to figure it out and fix it. Having used experimental filesystems before and been burned I would rather stick with what I know and won't change overnight.
I'll keep an eye open for new filesystems of course but if it's not mainline unless it's for personal hacking no.
> I own several SBC's (Small Board Computer) that do not run mainline kernels. The company that makes them provides their own patched kernel so if it breaks I'm up creek but I know who to bitch at.
Example: When i launch atom everything else in KDE disappears I can't see any other apps until I tab over to them. Moving the window in focus fixes it so the screen is back to normal until I launch a new application.
Quitting X and restarting it is the only thing that fixes it.
I liked Atom but like textmate it got forgotten and it will get harder to use over time
I know it's work however if done right (or better) a .org should be low cost for a NGO and how about a decent non profit tld so they could have it lower cost or free?
Sure it sounds hard but the automation and handling enrolling new domains is the real work
However it's very _COMMON_ for company's to just fire someone who is disabled and hire someone else who can do the job without needing a babysitter.
Most people don't see a problem with this until it's their child; then they will be angry.
Lastly normally when a good company fires you go because of downsizing or problems that employee is given an exit bonus. Sure it might not be a lot; maybe a months salary.
Might not happen for everyone.
Lastly we need to be real about the problem of loosing your job and getting back on your feet. Those of you (like me) who get right back up and get a job the next day or next week... I congratulate you. It's hard.
Those of you who don't understand; you should try having over 100 different jobs before you are 23.
Really fucks with your self esteem.
Now we use online services and trust people blindly...
As far as the person who lost their dog; I am sorry. I know I did not cause the harm; but it's the only thing I can say.
As a pet owner I would be mortified. I also don't trust anyone with my pets (and they don't trust anyone). So it works out.
Edit: mix in sleep apnea or something else in combination..
Had a few Hetzner baremetal dell servers with iDrac/IPMI exposed to the world. It did have a good password.
Softlayer/IBM makes me login to a VPN to get into IPMI
(at least for me)
Exposing IPMI on the internet is stupid easy; just as it is stupid. It's the lazyness of hey I need to be able to get into the KVM console and i'm working at home today...
For example.
Maybe Debian should remove itself.
It could be said this package is history and it could be taught that this is offensive and why it's offensive.
So it should stay in the packages; maybe in unofficial sources or something.
The amazon hasn't stomped out traditional hosting in any sort of way. Internap can be cheap if you don't mind the contracts; beyond that there's just too many to really list.
Hetzner is just really easy to get small or large servers dedicated for a really cheap price... less than 300 pounds for 24TB of SATA and 4TB of SSD and 128gig of ram.
Right they didn't take over at all. Sure there are companies who use MongoDB ... and then there are companies who have mongodb installed insecurely exposing their data to the world
ProtonVPN ... geeze
P.S. If it's cheap it's going to break a lot... you know palm the cheaper it is the worse it is
It's a way to dismiss a person in the worst way; saying your opinion doesn't matter.
They require you to replace a logic board when a cold solder joint is the problem. Great for Apple; bad for you (because it costs money)

Hope his store survives (and everything in it) damned fires.
Then update /etc/resolv.conf with your DoH option or old legacy..
... Not a fan of DoH but it doesn't matter if I like it.
It's open; see what they are collecting.
Why? They want someone who is going to stay longer than 6 weeks (or 6 months).
Stop using this false argument.
Trust ia a factor; why should we trust someone with our root credentials?
Kinda feel sorry for the person who posted this article because they worry too much about someone who was downvoted on reddit.
Opinions are like assholes; everyone has one. If you want you can listen to their opinion and if you don't like it politely tell them to stop and you are not interested. If they can't handle that; you shouldn't be talking to them.
